Best way to Waredaca from VA?

Planning on XC schooling there tomorrow for the first time. We are leaving after the morning rush hours, of course!

Google maps gives me two options from our barn in VA. While one is 20 min faster (which sounds great), I want to know if it is actually the better option. Would love the experts to weigh in on the best trailer (2 horse) route.

Rt 1 - 66/495/270/370/Shady Grove/Muncaster/Brookevilee/Zion/Sundown/Damascus

Rt 2 - 66/495/270/109/355/75/Lewisdale/Prices Distillery/etc. etc. to Damascus

Thoughts?

I’ve always gone
66/495/270 exit on Shady Grove- follow Shady Grove to 124.
Rt on 124.
Rt on Brinks (which I think changes its name to Sundown).
Lt on Howard Chapel
Waredaca is right there on the next corner.

This is what USED to be in their omnibus listing.
There is a twisty bit on 124 before Brinks, and “bumps” on Brinks, but otherwise it is pretty trailer friendly.

I have never driven either of the routes you mentions.

Don’t go ft 2. That would be terrible in a trailer.
Easiest way is the first one but Zion is small. Totally doable in a trailer as there is hardly anyone on it.

If you get on Prices Distillery, make sure you aren’t going in the section with a truck ford! Unless you’d care to trailer through the water.

Thanks everyone!

Janet - That does look much easier/straightforward. I think we will try that!

If you want to stay mainly on larger roads, you could also take 270 to 200 (if you have an ez pass, as it is a toll road), get off 200 at 97 (Georgia Avenue), and take 97 til it hits 650 (New Hampshire). Turn Left on 650, and Waredaca is a short drive down on your right.

97 is totally fine with a trailer.

I’d go with route #1 or Janet’s route. I grew up about 1 mile from Waredaca.
