Best Winter Coats for riding?

Sorry for another one of these threads but I’m just starting to get my lists together! I had a really old hand me down from my dad that I used to ride in but that was years ago and I need an update! It gets really cold in PA and I don’t have an indoor to ride in. Looking for something that’s warm and functional for riding. Would like it to have room for me to fit layers under as well. Fun colors are a plus! Doesn’t have to be from a horsey place, but some of them are really cute! Thanks!

I just posted this in the hunting section

Does it have to be made specifically for riding? I wear this for riding in the winter:

It has a two way zipper and is pretty warm but very light. I got a men’s and sized up so I could fit additional layers if needed (I ride at night and have no indoor). It has the elasticy tie inside at the waist so you can cinch it up some to cut down on the bulk when not wearing extra layers.

The hood is actually big enough that I can I ride with it over my helmet which is a huge plus when it’s cold and windy or snowing. I love this jacket!!

Doesn’t have to be made for riding, but the link doesn’t work.:frowning:

Hrm, odd. Well if you go to the LLBEAN web site and do a search for the Rugged Ridge Parka you should be able to find it. Hope this helps!

I have a Riding Sport jacket I got from Dover about 6 years ago that is STILL waterproof, warm, and holding up! It is cut quite generous and you will easily be able to layer under it. Plus it has tons of zipper pockets for things. Mine has a removable under-jacket that is fleece lined, and the sleeves zip off so you can make a vest if you want. Or you can just wear the shell as a wind/water breaker.

I like Carhartt… I have this one in grey, I am never cold but it is not water proof. I usually wear a long sleeve and a fleece under, like Northface. It is super poofy and has a hood that can fit over my helmet.

It is not really a jacket you go to the barn looking sharp in, but I wore mine all winter last year and it really kept me warm.

I got this as a Christmas present two years ago and it is the BEST!!

A Milwauikee Electric Jacket.

I wear a thin shirt underneath it (usually my long sleeve UnderArmour), and then the jacket. Depending on the weather, I’ll either wear just a vest over it, or else another coat. Those layer really lock the HEAT in and I am toasty warm the whole ride!!!

I just recharge the battery and then its good to go for the next ride.

Thanks everyone! Keep the ideas coming!

I love my Eddie bauer jacket. I went to the outlet and got it for about $40. It is the warmest coat I’ve ever owned and is waterproof and has a hood as well. It also has two seperate pieces so you can wash the outer shell if it has horse slobber or grime.

I love the Horseware jackets.

I have the Julia jacket and love it.

Down will probably be very warm and light weight for you.
