Purchased interior bumpers from this website for my trailer, only to be scammed out of the cash. Emailed 5 times and called 4, nothing. Found them on Ebay and messaged them there too, nothing. I hate to be duped. Trying to warn others ahead of time.
I have only been scammed one time using Ebay --and that was many years ago --I bought a polo bag for DD equipment. I received emails that it was being shipped --until after the 30 days passed, then nothing. Since 30 days had lapsed, I had no recourse on Ebay.
The second problem I ever had was a man who bought spurs from me and paid with a check (back in the day) that had insufficient funds. Now Ebay doesn’t allow personal checks as far as I know. Anyway, I contacted the purchaser who pretty much told me “tough.” Being persistent, I sent a certified letter (used a web format) that said I was going to pursue the matter unless he made good on the check and my overdraft fees (check was $10, overdraft was $40). Then I called the county prosecutors office in his county --number off the web --and amazingly enough the actual county prosecutor answered only to tell me that the matter was too small for him to deal with --he was the only one in the office (did I say this was remote North Dakota?). For whatever reason, the purchaser did pay and did pay my overdraft fee too.
Your post doesn’t say you contacted Ebay --did you? That would be my first step. Then since Ebay uses credit cards now, can you dispute on your CC? I’ve had success doing that too --even thought the business (not Ebay) sent the CC company 30 pages of printed documents as to why I shouldn’t have a refund on my $31.00. Eventually the company refunded --I think because I was a big pain in the butt --retired school teachers with kids who are lawyers have a lot of time and knowledge to be annoying.
If you still want bumpers for your trailer --let me know. They are very easy to make and install --and are much better than what you can buy. Most companies on the web use heavy cardboard for backing, 1" foam, and vinyl fabric to cover. The ones I make for the trailers I’ve repaired or rehabbed use exterior grade 1/4 in plywood (lumber store will cut to size for you) 2" foam padding, Marine grade, and Marine grade Vinyl —fact is most of us wash the inside of our horse trailers and what you buy on line will not hold up to repeated washing. To make, all you need is the aforementioned plywood cut to size, an electric knife (to cut the foam) and a staple gun. You can have all bumper pads made in an hour. Probably take another hour to install (best to have two people). Done.
If it is the pads for the breast bar and butt bar, those too can be easily made --there’s a tutorial on YouTube.
What’s the website?
Here is a link to a seller that has horse trailer pads. Big company and totally reliable. My trailer is running on tire/wheels I bought from them, among many other trailer things over thirty-plus years.
Just to be clear, the website etrailer.com I posted above IS NOT the scammer that OP is posting about,
etrailer.com is a totally reliable source for trailer parts, including horse trailers, equipment trailers, boat trailers, and utility trailers
Thanks so much for the website info, I do still need pads. Foxglove, maybe I can make them myself.
I didn’t purchase these through Ebay, I wish I had, I just sent him a message there.
I purchased directly from his website using a Debit Card, I know… rookie mistake, I wasn’t thinking.
Google is not finding this company (for me).
Do you have a link to their website?
Perhaps if you sent them this thread you might get a response?
Interesting, I bought pads from Better Built several years ago and they arrived and I still have them on my trailer.
Unfortunately his business model has obviously changed.
Love your hooks on the bulkhead wall - what are they?
Oh ok! I’ve got a few of those lying around, but I’m surprised they can hold up your hay bags! Mine feel too flimsy for that.
These were not flimsy at all, surprisingly.
I have those for holding halters in my aisle and I too can not imagine them holding up a hay bag, let alone a hay bag that a horse is eating out of.
Actually these bend, also much sturdier than others I have seen. I’ll take a picture up close.
Still waiting for my pads or a refund. I emailed him a link to this thread.
