Better Talk Now (aka Blackie) euthanized

Sadly the 18-yr old Better Talk Now suffering from complications of colic - and was been attended to at New Bolton over the last week - was euthanized June 27th. Rest in peace, Blackie.

Folks may recall the Graham Motion trained turf horse, often seen with his rabbit partner (Shake The Bank), winning several big races. The Breeders’ Cup Turf in 2004 being perhaps the biggest. A career of 51 starts [of which 24 were graded races] going 14-8-5 and over $4M in the bank.

Very sad to see this today…I have fond memories of watching him run. What a fighter he always was. He will be deeply missed.

Think the OP has a ‘hasn’t’ instead of ‘has’.

He was at New Bolton for a few weeks.

Colic s*cks is all I have to say.

Sounds like he was a tough and valiant fighter until the end. Bless all who loved him enough to care for him throughout his race career and retirement and then give him that final gift.

Sleep well Better Talk Now.

A truly amazing horse. I do hope that there are more like him and John Henry in our future.

RIP Blackie. What a beautiful horse!

Was Graham using him as a pony? Or was he just hanging out?

I’m hoping that was a typo or autocorrect goof when I read “haven’t been attend to”. I do hope the planned wording was “having been attended to”.

Lovely horse. My sympathy to his connections.
