Beval saddle reps? Or, help me appraise an LTD.

Helping a friend of my sister’s sell a saddle that was left by his ex girlfriend. I’m having trouble googling Beval representatives. Do they even exist?

Otherwise, it’s a 19 inch LTD, regular flap, knee pads but no blocks. Super close contact and flat seat. Brand spankin new. Never been out of the box, let alone on a horse or oiled. Only blemishes are very minor scuffs on the cantle from being bounced around in the box; and those will probably be impossible to see once oiled. I cannot tell a year from the stamp (waiting for a text back on when said ex girlfriend bought the saddle). It is stamped made in England (so I assume better quality than the ones made in Argentina). Any ideas on a price? Or where to find the contact for a rep?

So Beval may not exist at all right now (all stores currently closed…not sure what’s going on), I wouldn’t look for Beval specific reps. Any reputable saddle rep could not only help you appraise but take it and sell it for you. They’ll take something off the top but it’s the easy way out. You could look for a CWD, Devoucoux, Butet etc rep and they can probably help.

Also just try looking around used saddles for sale online for the same brand in similar condition and see what they’re asking for it.

I used to work for Beval as a saddle rep. I would list the saddle for sale at $1500, but be negotiable. The LTD is an older model made by Jeffries in England, with the same wood tree that is used by Butet. It is a very good quality saddle, however being a 19 inch seat, you will have a limited market. I would try some jumper barns that have male riders (although the flap may not be long enough) - try calling Fairfield hunt club in CT. They love bevel products and may have someone looking. If knee blocks are a concern with a potential buyer, they can be easily added.

CWD only deals in other French brands, at least that was true when I bought mine quite a few years ago. At the time I think that was true of all of the French brands but that may have changed, I’m no longer riding so don’t pay attention to that kind of stuff anymore. I had a friend who had an LTD, I think at the time they were about $2,500 brand new.

Looking at the Beval market, and an older 19" saddle, I would price it between 1 and 999 dollars. I expect action around the 500$ mark.

Agree with this.

Thanks for this info. Got a text back and dudes ex bought two of them, “brand new”, end of 2016 or early 2017. So I’m aware that the LTD is older, I guess maybe these had been sitting around a few years before she bought them?

I do realize the seat size may make this sale difficult. I was bummed to see it.

I do know some people love the minimalist close contact so maybe I have a chance? He said she spent about $2500 each so I don’t want to let it go dirt cheap.

My saddles were over 4k new and I picked all up for under 1k each, and these are pretty high demand brands and styles and sizes. As with anything, a saddle is only worth what someone will pay for it. Maybe dude should start riding as that might be the best way to get value from the saddle  I mean, he didnt pay for it anyway, right?

Hahahaha dude is a cowboy and I doubt he would find it stylish nor functional working cows out in the hills  He just wants to recoup some loss though I don’t want to lowball it. I don’t have any experience with non-Butet Bevals, essentially don’t know how to appraise non-French brands. Guess I’ll just throw it out there at a decent price and either someone buys it, or they don’t. Might look in to a consigner, perhaps Corey, as her saddles get a lot of visibility.

I’d consider advertising it in some of the fox hunting forums. Especially if it has any dee rings on the sides. Or find a couple of the plus-sized groups on facebook.

I have the LTD2 and looking around online, they are mostly listed at $600. I’m not sure if there is a price change for the LTD. Side note : The Beval’s in North Salem, NY is still open. Just talked to them a few days ago.
