Beware Eclipse Trailers

I love my Eclipse trailer!!!

My experience with Eclipse has been very good. First, I have NO connection to Eclipse or the BBB! My Eclipse trailer is TB size, 2 horse slant, and was purchased new in 2010. It holds my 16H and 15 hand horses comfortably and safely. I like the tack area in front, the padded walls & dividers, interior lights etc. The whole trailer is well built and of good quality.

I did have a small car accident with my trailer and couldn’t find a local trailer dealer that could do the repairs properly. I call the Eclipse factory as a last resort, but wished I had called them FIRST!!. We made arrangements for me to take the trailer to their factory (about 4 hours from me) so they could assess my problem. I left the trailer there and two weeks later picked up my perfectly repaired trailer.

While there, I was given a tour of the factory and met the owners. They are building incredible trailers and I saw some custom models full of buyers requests to suit their partcular horse discipline. This is a first rate operation in my opinion. While there, as a goodwill gesture on their part, they installed a hand hold at the side door and also a third saddle rack at no charge.

I can’t say enough about how well I was treated. That was about 3 years ago and my trailer is still beautiful and a very good safe way to haul my horses. I think Eclipse builds a very high quality trailer and their customer service is excellent. Christina

2014 3 horse Eclipse

I bought a 2014 Eclipse 3 horse trailer and had one problem with it, 2 welds were cracked. I called and found out that the company went bankrupt and that a new owner had purchased it. I called them and they told me to bring it to their new manufacturing site and would honor the warranty. I went there and they fixed the problem and took me on a tour of the new facility. They told me of all the new up grades they were doing and I told them of afew things that they needed to do. I hauled two Tennessee Walkers, one 16 h and the other 15.3 H and they fit in comfortably with no problems. The floor is made of wood and covered with stall mats so no urine will flow towards the tack room. I stored hay in the first stall. The trailer pulled with ease and I am very satisfied with what I purchased. I know theres one lemon in many that is purchased, I for one had a small problem and it was fixed. I have no regrets.

I still love my Eclipse Horse Trailer

I still love my 2010 Eclipse trailer. I have the TB size, 2 horse, slant load, step up, bumper pull, and my 16h horse fits fine and rides comfortably along with my smaller horse.

I’m sorry that the person posting the problem had such a terrible experience. My trailer is of very good quality, well made, good windows, and everything works well. My trailer pulls well too. I also have a friend with an Eclipse a couple of years older than mine and they still love theirs too. I hate to see a whole company condemned this way. People with good experiences normally don’t post. I am not related to anyone at Eclipse, haha. I’m just a very satisfied customer.

I am starting to wonder if the few terrible postings are actually from the higher priced, bigger name competitors who would like to run Eclipse out of business. Check out Eclipse for yourself.

I love my Eclipse trailer!!!

I purchased my 2 horse slant load tb size step up bumper pull Eclipse trailer new in 2010. It’s been a great trailer. Comfortable for my 16+h tb cross in front and my 15 h arab/pinto in back. I took trailer to factory to get some additional features added and they were super nice and accommodating. My trailer still looks as good as when I bought it. I’m sorry for those not having my experience. This trailer will be with me for a long time.

7 posts and every single one about how much you love your Eclipse trailer.

That’s not suspicious at all!

I have an Eclipse trailer and I really like it. It’s almost 10 years old. It’s extra tall 7’ 8’’ If I Remember correctly. Roomy, quiet, cool interior. No issues.

We have an Eclipse two horse bumper- pull trailer with tack room. We purchased in April 2009 and have had no issues with it. It has performed flawlessly and has held-up well. A few times it has been borrowed by friends and invariably they have been impressed with it. I was somewhat shocked to read the negative accounts by others about Eclipse. We have
been very pleased with ours.
There are plenty of other brands out there that I would not prefer over what I have.

It is amazing how many houseguests post on this thread… years after the fact.

I’m also not sure what the point would be because Eclipse filed for bankruptcy and isn’t a company anymore.

I believe they opened up a new business but I am not 100% sure on that. Same trailer, different name. Maybe that is why?

There is a website called ripoff report. Put your experience on there. When people search eclipse it will come up quickly.

The Eclipse brand name is still going under different ownership now from what I understand. We bought a 2013 and it had a few small issues from delivery. However, it is beautiful looking, tows well, and was priced competitively. This trailer gets used as a utility trailer maybe 15-20 times per year for short trips, and hauls horses maybe twice per year - no winter driving.

In year 2 we had the (locked) dressing room door fly open while we were driving and ruin both the door and the bumper on the truck. The dealer provided us with a new door but the door was warped and while it looks ok a close inspection shows that the door doesn’t line up well. No compensation for the damage to the truck obviously.

This spring (year 4) when we took it in for a safety inspection, we realized that almost every weld had cracked on the trailer. We contacted the new Eclipse and they would not cover the repair. They did acknowledge the issue and provide a solution - so per their recommendation, we added a significant amount of reinforcement to each weld and had everything repaired. To put it in perspective, the trailer is 18ft long and only 2 ft of that was welded on to the base. 2 ft of welds holding 18 ft of trailer. It is not suprising that the welds crack over time. We now have 3X the amount of reinforcement so hopefully we do not have issues going forward.

Hopefully Eclipse is doing a better job now that they know of the issues. I haven’t gone to look at their newer trailers but at this point with the repairs we would have been further ahead to buy a more expensive brand of trailer. The trailers are very popular here in Ontario, and I think others have had better luck with them than we have.

Wow that is terrible and scary AAH.

Cracking is always going to be a problem with cheap aluminum. It is a relatively brittle metal and continual flexing will cause it to crack.
