Big Barker dog bed

Has anyone bought one of these? They are crazy expensive, but my old lady Chessie is having hind limb issues that are making it hard to get up on the couch. I’ve been trying to prevent her climbing and jumping but I can’t find a dog bed she will use. When on the couch, she seems to like being pressed up against the back, like she needs the support, so I was thinking maybe the bolster on this would entice her. She’s clearly not comfortable on just the floor either.

If you’ve got any insights, I’d love to hear them.

How about this, up against the wall or with another mattress behind?

Dog beds are crazy money but crib mattress are not. Whack together a cover or just secure on a twin fitted sheet.

I have a $100.00 kids futon in my living room. It has a back and the dogs are on it all the time. It’s firm.

Weird I thought I put the link on in a separate thread but it isn’t here. I searched amazon for twin size memory foam and orthopedic mattress and there were many options.

We’ve used a futon mattress on the floor before too, with the back up against the wall. The cats slept on the top of the back.

Look for a toddler bed on CL and cut the legs down to whatever height you want. These styles always show up in my area.

I had a crib mattress on the floor and was looking for something really close to home and really cheap with no hassle for my dog that digs all (10 of) her blankets and pillows off the sides every night. We ended up using the top bunk of my daughter’s bed when it was no longer needed. Crib mattress in a corner and a body pillow would work, too. Sheets are cute and much easier to clean!

Thanks guys. Hadn’t thought about a crib mattress. It needs to be on the floor and very firm, so I’ll poke around and see if something looks right. She stumbles if the footing is mushy at all, like a really soft dog bed. My memory foam mattress is okay though. She just won’t be able to jump up on the bed much longer.

We use crib mattresses at work for the really big dogs. Cover them with a couple heavy duty contractor bags and then a sheet or blanket. Helps preserve the waterproofness and lets us disinfect easier, just throw the blankets in the wash.
