Disappointed that nobody has posted anything about these two. Big Brown arrived earlier in the week, Coz, Zenyatta’s first foal, arrived yesterday. Both are popular and should bring lots of fans to see them. Both looked great upon arrival.
I saw this on FB and watched the “unboxing” video of BB. I’m so glad he has a safe landing - not that he was ever at risk of not, but he was a popular sire in the region I lived in, and I’m so fond of his kids.
That is too bad about Coz not working out as a riding horse - last I saw he had a promising second career.
I was curious what triggered Cozmic One’s retirement from his sport horse career (I know time is flying but it doesn’t seem that long ago that he retired from racing!) and found this article if anyone else is wondering, too:
What happened?
Not that it’s a secret or anything, but that horse just proves once again that you can breed the best to the best and still end up with a slow horse.
I hope both of them have a very long and happy retirement at their new home.
Lol oops somehow I missed that post (long day… yeh, that’s it ).
From the article that Simkie posted above, for those who do not want to read the whole article, this is the reason given for Cozmic One retiring.
I am so excited that Big Brown is at Old Friends! I hope to see him next summer.
I can’t believe Coz is 12 and Big Brown is nearing 20. Gah, I feel old.
Silver Charm is 30 and I feel like he just won the DWC yesterday.
OF has a video of BB’s first turnout at his new home.
I have a genuine question that in no way is implicating him or his connections - does anyone know what is causing him to buckle his knee/LF like that at the walk? Is it an old injury?
I randomly googled Coz in the middle of the night and found out that he was sent to Old Friends. Bernardini babies deserve the world.
I imagine that all of the Zenyatta fans will be thrilled to visit with her firstborn. Big Brown looks good but a bit overweight. Hopefully Coach will help him lose some of that weight. Both are good additions to the Old Friends herd.
I can’t find that video, is it on their facebook page?
I only noticed it buckle once but maybe that’s because I was blinded by the sheen of his coat. Gosh he looks good, too chubby but good. And of course Lava Man was watching and gave a few comments on Big Browns roll in the dirt failure. If you follow The Coach you will know he is the best at getting himself covered in mud from head to toe.
Aww. He looks happy to be there.
He only did 22 shows in a six year career. A few at 1m, but mostly at the novice children’s .85-.90m.
That right knee doesn’t look quite right to me when he’s walking away from the camera, although he buckles in both periodically.
And holy cow is he obese!
Coz never struck me as having the talent or enthusiasm for jumping. I could, however, see him happily moseying along on a trail ride or maybe even doing a little dressage (I wonder if they even ever tried that). However, as a son of the Queen, he should do very well at Old Friends and attract a lot of visitors all the while he is enjoying the retired life.
