Has anyone been to the Big Elk Lick Campground in Benezette, PA?
Trying to find some reliable info on the trail conditions/footing.
Thanks!

Oh me me me!! I LOVE Benezette!!! You’d be staying at the best place. The campground is nice, the people are great and it’s convenient to everything- you can leave right from there. I will attach a bunch of pics from a July 4th trip. There are pretty easy trails and then there are some rather treacherous ones. There is a nice easy trail along a railroad, but it’s active, if the train goes by…depends on your horses! There’s a creek that has deep enough spots for the horses to be able to swim. There are a TON of horse people there it wouldn’t be hard to hook up with someone who knows the trails and tag along. I took my at the time, 9 year old daughter who can ride the hair off a horse…she did great. You see people with buddy saddles and little kids but I’m just not sure I would do that there. I was told shoes, shoes, shoes on the horses but truthfully mine would have been fine without…it’s mountain rock/terrain not little ouchy limestone. There are some muddy places but that’s not the majority, although some of them are deep as you will see in my pics

Big Elk Lick is on Facebook and you can see more pics of the campground. Word to the wise, if you plan on going anytime near Sept or Oct they take reservations a year ahead of time! Very busy when the elk are bugling!!
Thank you so much!! I was having a hard time finding info online. I’m going on an organized ride in June so I shouldn’t get lost but I will bring my GPS just in case.
I haven’t been able to find them on Facebook just an event with a yellow submarine? you wouldn’t be able to post a link would you? (pretty please)
Thanks. For some reason it doesn’t work for me just takes me to my home page.
