Does anyone have a Big Horn Saddle or have any information about them?
I should have one soon! I just mentioned them on that Wintec Western saddle thread…I’m very keen on trying out the Synthetic Trail saddle:

Pop on the three pix below the description text and they enlarge nicely for details. (There’s also a black version and it has a separate listing/pix).
I’m keen on trying this model because I need a 14" seat and shorter fenders (which this offers) and I like the sueded seat/jockeys (I have a neuromuscular issue which affects me and this helps me).
I have not tried any of the others, but I have heard several people who have Big Horn saddles really like them.
What kind of riding activity would you be doing?
Trailriding and stock horse type competitions. I just want something comfortable!
They’ve been bought out, FWIW.
Decent mid range saddles, worth the money but the leather is a bit hard.
I was fortunate enough to find an older synthetic Big Horn saddle for $100 when I bought my mare several years ago. The saddle shows its mileage, but it is very comfortable for both of us.
Well, as I just bought a new pony last night, today I ordered the saddle I put the link to in my earlier post…soooo, we’ll see what happens!
I am hoping it fits the pony and is decent in quality as well.
I traded a bicycle for a Big Horn 110 Roper in '94. Used it lightly for a year, then kept it in storage until a couple of weeks ago. My mare had put on a bit of weight during a lay-up, which caused my CC saddle to not be a comfortable fit, and the girth a bit too short. I pulled out my Big Horn and re-discovered how comfortable it is. So much so, that yesterday I bought a new pad and headstall to go with it.
I have now tried the new Big Horn saddle on the new pony and we haz a winnnnnaaahhh!!!
VERY lightweight (easy on my physical issues…can’t lift the heavier western saddles at all), but very sturdy and VERY comfy for both me and the pony.
SO, certainly I will give Big Horn a thumbs up!
Which style Big Horn did you get?
I have a bighorn synthetic I got cheap off of Ebay, and I LOVE IT! It is comfy to ride in, and doesn’t slip when you mount…
I do. Mine is this one:

and I love it. It weighs only about 16 lbs. and the stirrups are really easy to adjust (no Blevins buckles!) and will go short enough for short-legged riders and also long. Besides, it is comfortable.
Does that mean I should hang onto mine? I had one come with
a horse I bought, I’ve not used it myself, but it seems a
sturdy leather/codura mix saddle. Not in bad shape, I was
thinking of selling it, but I keep seeing people say they like
them and they are comfy. I guess I’ll have to try it out.
I had an old (leather) Pioneer style that I eventually sold because it was a touch small for me. It was pretty heavy, but the tree was tight and it seemed like a decent midrange saddle.
Ditto on what Wellspotted posted…that’s the one I got as well. I’ve tried it on my new little pony and also my larger mare and it works nicely for both horses…very comfy, too, and the horses both seem very happy with it. AND I cannot believe how light it is to handle! I am really glad I got it.
Certainly worth a look for those who are thinking of synthetic, or like me, cannot handle the heavier western saddles.
I’ve rode in a trail saddle with gel seat, synthetic and 1/2 synthetic, 1/2 leather and found them super comfy.
