You definitely made the right decision on this one!
Iâd wonder why the breeder waited until you were gone, after youâd made your pick, to bring up this issue. It shouldâve been forefront on her mind, and in the discussion when you were looking at puppies. It sounds like showing a house and after the couple has fallen in love and put earnest money down saying, âyeah, I forgot to mention this problem with the foundationâŠâ.
I think you made a wise decision.

I donât have much to say on price⊠I donât know what breeders are selling dogs for these daysâŠ
And I know you decided not to get himâŠ
But as far as him being bilaterally crypt⊠the majority of the time the surgery is no big deal, usually the dr is able to find the testicles easily. Sometimes they canât though and they have to go searching⊠this is where it becomes more complicated because the pet is on anesthesia longer.
I find it interesting that the sire has had multiple pups like this.
While I was visting puppies we had the conversation about what age to neuter. I said Iâd like to wait til pup was at least 18 months (as long as there were no behavioural issues). She (owner of sire) called me on my way home to say that if the puppy was cryptorchid, it was important to neuter as early as possible. That is where the conversation started.
I think Iâve stirred up a bit of a hornets nest. I called breeder this AM to let her know my decision. She was completely unaware that sire had this issue, and is also frustrated that wasnât disclosed earlier.
Cooper - Maybe it would be worthwhile to take him to your vet to confirm. The breeder could be wrong. PPE is always a good idea anyway.
Was the breeder understanding about you changing your mind? And is there another pup you might be interested in?

Puppies have wellness check tomorrow with their Vet, so will see what he says. Litter is 4 hours away, so not feasible for my own Vet to examine.
Even with a cryptorchid, you can wait until maturity. You just canât safely leave them intact for several years
