I’ve been taking lessons with Bill Fields for a bit now. It finally occurred to me to ask if anyone here has heard of him. He is quite up there in years, was a GP dressage rider. I’m more just curious, I can’t find much about his career off of google but man, he has some interesting stories and has been great with me and my 4 year old.
There are quite a few people in the Dayton/Springfield Ohio area who have lessoned with him. He used to come up here regularly, then he got sick, then I don’t know what happened. I rode with him a few times, then I got hurt, then my horse decided he didn’t like dressage, so we fell out of contact.
@kris0227 also lessoned with him, she might know more about his current situation.
Yeah he has been fighting some kind of cancer, he just started feeling up to travel down here a few months ago. He has been doing really well though, was here last weekend.
I just took a lesson with him yesterday! Yes, he’s back to teaching now. I take regular lessons with him. He does have some entertaining stories he tells. He’s not online and he was showing well before the internet, I wish the records were there. I have some old pictures he gave me that were stills from a video of him riding back in the 60’s or 70’s and last month, he got on and worked with my mare because she was being “special”. I’ve been training with him for 8 or 9 years now, I love his methods and have seen massive improvements with each of the horses (3 total) that I’ve ridden with him. We are currently working on second level with my Norwegian Fjord mare.
Feel free to PM me with any questions about him.
