Bio-sponge for dogs??

Is there any product similar to bio-sponge for dogs? An oral supplement to give to firm up stools or help promote better digestion?

I’m asking b/c a friend’s dog is constantly having stomach upset with runny poo or poo that sticks to his rear (constantly getting bathed, clipped to help prevent this). He’s also very very picky about what and how much he will eat.

Just curious.

Purina makes a product called FortiFlora. Available through many online stores although I’ve found Amazon.com is the least expensive. Here’s some info:

you can try yogurt- activa. But I suspect the dog needs either a major diet change or a visit to the vet.

Canned pumpkin may work (just make sure it’s pure pumpkin and not pie filling). What are you feeding?

Caitlin

It used to be available as a paste in a tube that you could give dogs.

Don’t know, not my dog. I suspect its whatever is on sale that particular grocery trip.

He was adopted from a hoarder situation and seems to have a host of issues, unfortunately.

Try metronidazole - might be giardia.

The dog needs a vet visit, a fecal test done, and a good hard re-evaluation of diet.

Ditto. What this dog does NOT need is an internet diagnosis by non-vets!

Yeah, I’ve recommended she take him to the vet a number of times. :sigh:

Hopefully she will take him soon!

Tell her that he could have cancer of the bowel. (it’s true…)
Better be safe than sorry.
Chronic GI issues are nothing to put off!
