Biofit saddle pads

Does anybody have one? Thoughts?

I am still casually searching for a different saddle pad for under my saddle. I would like to switch to wool or felt, and my current pad is a bit too small for the saddle. However, with my mare downhill I need a little bit of lift in the front to help keep the saddle (and myself) from sliding forward. That kind of rules out 5 Star (drool) and other traditional wool or felt pads. Came across Biofit and they look like they could do the trick for us…

I borrowed a Classic Equine BioFit from a friend (who was selling it) to see how it worked for my gelding. I put it on my horse to test the fit but didn’t even ride in it. I didn’t like how STIFF it felt.

I guess my 5 Star pads have me totally spoiled! (So super soft.)

Have you considered using a shim if you need a little extra up front?

I have a saddle fitting client that recently bought the Classic Equine BioFit Shim Felt Pad for her horse. We needed something with front shims and it worked really well. I think as you ride in them, they will soften a little and conform more to your horse and saddle. The shimming options (in the pad, like an English shim pad) is very helpful.

If you don’t like the stiffness/thickness of the Classic Equine BioFit, Thinline and Diamond Wool offer shimmable pads too. Thinline pads are wonderful.

I just bought the Diamond wool shimmbble pad. I can’t tell you how it works because the weather’s been to lousy to try it but I’m hoping it helps. My horse is downhill too, and pads tend to slide out from under her saddle. I did try the saddle and pad on her yesterday and it seems to level out the saddle nicely.

I have thought about it, as I was kind of hoping for a 5 Star somewhere down the line, but I would really prefer something where the shims are an “all in one” set up vs a pad on top of another pad.
