BioStar Tri-Gard EQ

Anyone have experience with BioStar Tri-Gard EQ? I have a horse who tends to go off his grain at shows and other stressful situations. I absolutely suspect it’s ulcers. Ulcer-Gard does work well for him, but it takes a full tube a day to keep his tummy happy at shows, plus sucralfate. At least we found what works, but man…$$$$$.

My trainer says she loves this BioStar Tri-Gard paste, but I’ve never heard of it. It’s all natural, which I like, but I’m a little dubious about it.

Would love to hear anyone’s experiences.

I use it. My horse had Grade 4 Squamous Ulcers when he was scoped last March. We did the sucralfate/Gastrogard routine for six weeks, then did a four week taper off of Gastrogard and moved onto Ulcergard. After I read somewhere that prolonged use of Ulcergard (omeprazole, a ppi/proton pump inhibitor) can actually prevent nutrient uptake in horses through normal digestion, I switched to the Trigard product. I’ve noticed no changes in my horse indicating any recurrence of ulcers and am very happy with the price point, especially since he gets only 1/4 tube per day.
Give it a shot, I think you’ll be happy with it.
