Bit Question- please help

on this bit, Where do you attach the curb strap? at the top rings?

I don’t think you use one with this bit. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t look like you would use one.

Top ring but it may pinch the horse; using curb hooks may help stop pinching.

Agree, top ring. It will sit higher than a normal curb strap.

I have used a bit like this for many years. I have never had a pinching problem using a leather chin strap in the upper rings. I do a lot of trail riding and it seems to keep the horse comfortable but gives me a bit of leverage if needed.

This is a leverage bit not a snaffle.

This is a curb bit/leverage bit. You need to have a curb strap.

The curb strap goes on the top rings.

If you attach reins to the middle rings, it’s a snaffle, more or less.

If you attach reins to the bottom rings, it’s a curb.

If you attach 2 sets of reins, one to the middle rings, one to the bottom rings, it acts, more or less, like an English pelham and might be used, I guess, in that way as a sort of transition bit, moving from a snaffle to a curb - although I can’t say that I’ve ever seen anyone do that.

thanks everyone. this would be used as a curb bit.
