Black Country Vinici

I am still in search for a saddle for my new mare, although I am about to give up and just ride in my Wintec Pro that fits her with the wide gullet.

Anyway, I’ve tried a couple Hennigs that didn’t fit her. I tried a Bates Innova that fit her but I HATED it!

I may be trying a used Black Country Vinici.

Can anyone tell me about this saddle. What is the twist like, does it really help with position, etc.

I like the twist of my Passier Grand Gilbert and my Albion K2, which have a narrowish twist.

It has a narrowish twist.

as for position. every saddle fits each person differently.
This saddle did nothing for me.

Also, remember. a narrow feeling twist on one horse may feel wider on another horse.
The BC twist felt wide on my horse but narrow on my friends horse.

all you can do is try everything.

I bought a Black Country Minuet and it is a wonderful saddle. It really got my leg to drop down and be where it is supposed to be. I love it. I have a very wide Friesian and it is the first saddle that fit him really well.

I tried Vinici and the twist is medium-narrow but not as narrow as the Passier GG. It seemed to tilt me on my butt and I couldn’t ride with stirrups as they shoved my knees off the front of the saddle no matter how long - I have long thighs. I’d say it’s worth trying as it’s a very nice saddle and I love the way it’s flocked - very comfy for the horse, mine loved it.

I tried the Vinici and really liked it. It wasn’t quite a fit for my horse, but I really liked how the saddle fit me. It’s a little odd because I normally like a wide twist, but even though it has a narrow twist, it worked pretty well.

Yeah, what she said. I have the Elegant, and love the way it lowers my leg to a perfect position. I have struggled with saddles having my leg out too much in front, and this one places me and my hip/leg in a long direct contact which is quite easy to keep. LOVE IT!

Styles may change, but I think the tree is pretty much the same in all the saddles, it is the flap and deepness that changes for style to style.

This isn’t the case with this brand. When I was looking at them they told me that certain saddles have narrower twists and the Vinici is their second narrowest twist.

Btw, if you email Black Country directly, they can answer your questions. They were helpful when I contacted them.

Guess I am going to try the saddle. I am just tired of paying to ship saddles, either they don’t fit my mare or I don’t like them and then paying to ship them back. sigh Wish there was an easier way to shop for saddles!

Heh heh - Ames - on your pone, most anything will have a widish twist! As you know, Shad is the same, but I tried this one on Pro, who is “normal”. LOL

why MD, are you implying my pony is a round sort of fellow??? The odd thing is that it feels wider than when I rode him treeless - go figure!

Shad looks good btw (not to go off topic) - saw him at GR a few weeks ago - didn’t recognize him b/c he’s so dark now!

Not true. Trees vary immensely from manufacturer to manufacturer (and sometimes vary with different models by the same manufacturer!). Here’s one good source of info about trees and saddle fit:
