Black owned equine businesses?

Do these exist? Does any one care to share some if you know of any. I would like to put together some black owned equine businesses to shop from for Christmas with my other usual websites I enjoy shopping on. I want to find some clothing stores, some designers, anything.

https://rivieraequisports.com/ I just got a bridle from them and absolutely love it!

Interesting because of the lack of diversity in their models. Smartpak does better that that.

This one looks like it’s more based on eco-friendly tack etc. Agree, not much diversity represented which is odd if it was marketing being anything else.

Thank you so much @Tha_Ridge for recommending my small business

@Bristol_Bay Thank you for bringing that to my attention, looks like I need to review Riviera’s content and see where I can do better. I do what I can to include as much diversity as possible in my images on Instagram which is where we do most of our social media marketing. If you take a look at the brand’s Instagram I think I’ve done a pretty good job at that without intentionally featuring someone more than anyone else. Even before this, I tried not to knock too hard on companies who did what they could to even on occasion show a photo of a rider who looked like me. The reason why is because, riders who look like me (riders with brown skin) are still very much the minority in many areas. While being the brand owner, I am also the photographer, the creative director, the social media manager, the designer, the web designer, it’s just me behind the scenes right now! So driving long distances to meet up with fellow POC who ride and are both comfortable In front of a camera and interested in participating in a Photoshoot is hard to do. Larger businesses can afford to hire a model, or fly a a rider that fits what they are looking for in for a photo shoot. Unfortunately, my small business is not there quite yet. So I work with my beautiful friends and clients of many races and backgrounds who are often with me when I have my camera and an idea — most of those who you see photographed are black or latinx, despite the shade of their skin they are each very proud of their heritage. That being said, everyone regardless of race who steps in front of my camera and has been a part of one of my Photoshoot’s for Riviera has been absolutely wonderful and I am of course thankful for their participation. I would love to see the minority numbers change, and I hope to contribute some to the feeling of inclusivity when young future black and brown equestrians come across our content on social media. I will continue to do what I can, where I can!

I design eco friendly tack - which is just a fancy way of saying the leather’s tanning process and materials used to create the tack does not use harmful chemicals that others often use (EX: Chrome tanning). Along with that, I also sell riding apparel.

I encourage everyone to check us out on Instagram and follow @RivieraEquisports

Thanks for your reply! I didn’t mean to open a can of worms for you—I know you work really hard and I’ve personally been really thrilled with the bridle I purchased from you, especially given the reasonable price point.

It’s based on eco-friendly tack but it’s still a black-owned business, which is what the OP asked for. It’s truly weird that I fulfilled the OP’s request (shared a black-owned, equestrian-focused business that I’ve spent my own money at and have been pleased with) and that’s somehow not enough. Jesus.

Hi! Love your stuff! Three questions…can you point me to a size guide? And can you tell me where your shirts hit (at hip, below hip?) And lastly…when are reins back in stock and will you have the Havana? Thanks! Excited to order

Not a problem at all! I am always open to feedback of any kind, even constructive criticism. I want to do my part when it comes to both photographing and featuring BIPOC equestrians like myself — although I’m much more comfortable behind the camera. I think the Instagram account is a better representation of my efforts than the website itself. However I will change that now that I’ve received the feedback above (which I appreciated!)

Again, thank you for recommending the brand! I truly appreciate it

I’m working on size charts this week! The second skin is quite short in the torso. The Chelsea is more of the universals desired fit when it comes to length. Depending on size, they are long enough to tuck in comfortably and with room to spare. Some of the customers wear them to yoga and tennis as well (untucked).

I simply pointed out that it seemed like it was selling itself as an eco friendly brand. I didn’t see anywhere on the site that marketed itself as a “black owned” business. That’s all.

While I’m here, here are a few other black owned businesses

https://www.manetresses.com/

https://blkk-creations.myshopify.com

https://highhorseequestrian.ca/

Might not be exactly what the OP was looking for but I wanted to mention them.
