Black stirrups and whip question...

I am hunting for the first time on Sunday. I have been invited by a friend who is a member of Whiskey Road Foxhounds in Aiken, SC. I am very excited! I am pretty clear about what I need to wear and what my horse needs to wear but I have two questions still:

  1. Are my black stirrups ok? I am an eventer and have stirrups like these: http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-0742&ids=230581095

  2. May I carry a black or brown crop? (Although I’m guessing I won’t need one… Elliot will probably be nicely forward in such an atmosphere!)

Thanks!

Your stirrups will be just fine if they and the rest of your tack are nice and clean!

You may carry the crop of your choice- if it were me, I’d use a brown crop if the saddle is brown, but truly not a biggie. But do carry it! (Personal peeve of mine, people who shove their crops into their boots…:))

Mostly, go have fun!

Thanks Beverly! I am devoting today to tack cleaning so I plan to sparkle tomorrow! I agree with you on the crop in the boot thing- the other thing that bothers me is when people put it in the gullet of the saddle!

You should get your friend to invite you back down on the 20th for the Why Worry/Whiskey Road joint meet, then we can have two Greenvillians out in the same field!

Have a great time and post a hunt report.

There is a fellow at my hunt who shoves his dressage ship down this boot, drives me crazy! Seeing him ride along reminds me so much of one of those old people scooers that has the bendy pole sticking up the back and a little flag. All he needs is some orange trail mark tape…
