Congrats! I galloped a few of his babies (mostly fillies). They were all put together well and athletic, nice movers. I met him once when he was standing at a farm I took my mare to be bred at, he was friendly although older at the time.
Wookie- we had one donated to CANTER who just didn’t want to be a race horse. When I saw him move my jaw dropped. He just turned 4yrs old and is 16h. Really well put together and absolutely amazing gaits. True upper level prospect. He has been sold to an upper level rider in NC and I suspect we will see him doing some big things in the future. Pic of him here- http://www.flickr.com/photos/fairweather/6231431527/in/set-72157624630866207
Fairweather (CANTER MA’S Director) told me she really loves the Black Tie Affair horses.
Any pics of your horse?
Jleegriffith.
Her name is etoile noir. She is six. She is on canter midatlantic at the laurel track. Beautiful gaits! She needs some time to settle down. And I want to fatten her up a little
Ditto to Jess, they are freakishly catlike in their movement. Love them!
A friend of mine just bought a mare by Black Tie Affair at Finger Lakes. She couldn’t get to the track until after hours on a miserable and cold day. The mare’s trainer told us we could take her out and jog her which we did in the shed row. Even in that tiny space we nearly fell over when we saw her move! Just beautiful and floaty! She is a bold mare to ride and all business, according to my friend. She said that on her first cross country ride (literally across the country side) the mare took her across streams, hopped logs and slid down a 10 foot muddy embankment.
It sounds to me like you should be looking forward to a good time with your new guy!
Known a couple of fillies by Black Tie Affair. All gorgeous and beautiful little heads.
Had the pleasure of meeting Black Tie Affair himself; a friend used to handle him when he stood at Blue Ridge. Rode a BTA hurdler called Beluga; very quick, cat like but could be tricky. Loved his disposition; cute, funny little guy. Also handled a broodmare bought by Audley Farm called “Mather Miss” by BTA out of a Spectacular Bid mare. Threw lovely babies. She was a bit reserved but very nice mare. Black Tie Affair was one of my favorite stallions of all time; beautiful, tough competitor and pure class.
BTA
I saw him at a stallion showcase and was very impressed with his conformation, personality, and good manners. Owner wouldn’t breed ot a maiden or I would have one, sigh.
The lovely mare Brazilian Wedding who is doing the Retired Racehorse Trainer Challenge with Eric Dierks is o/o a BTA mare.

She’s the grey mare. This was her FIRST ride off the track. Look at some of the other stuff on her on youtube, she’s spectacular.
