Blevins buckle is rubbing

What do you do about the Blevins buckle rubbing? My horse had rub marks after her ride today and it’s not from the girth.

Has anyone removed the buckle and replaced it? I think because of the way the stirrups are turned, it’s pressing the sides of the buckle into her belly (because of my stirrup length and short legs).

I could put fleece around it, but maybe I just need new stirrup fenders?

I wrap these around my Blevins buckles and never have a mark on my horses. I wash them when I clean my saddles, and they have lasted for years.

Hmm. Can’t say I have ever had that happen.

Can you post a picture?

Or redo your stirrups leather so they have a Hamley Twist.

I’d be interested in seeing a picture or two as well. One thing I would suggest it moving your fenders up or down maybe an inch or two so the buckle isn’t going to rub.

I tried the Hamley twist. Didn’t really care for it. I think at this point I’m just going to replace the stirrup leathers. I’m pretty sure I have a pair that matches my saddle in a tub somewhere.
