Also on her website…her budgets for this trip. What a LARGE amount of money they need to raise.
I had a sudden mental image of Phillip Dutton sitting infront of a computer and typing away and had to laugh a bit.
His website, seems to have regular updates.
Thanks everyone! I:yes:t’s great to be “in the know”
I love reading blogs! Thanks for the info. Greg’s retelling of their visit to a spa was pretty funny!
That is an interesting question. Does the housing for the riders have internet service? I know the media all have to pay for their access. I believe it is $400 for the duration of the games.
OMG!! Becky looks GREAT! And… Comet doesn’t look too shabby either.
Great blog!
Thanks-I was wondering about blogs
Team Holder update re: Final Inspection…
before shipping:
7/29/08 (From Tom) Becky called me last night.
I had already picked up the phone before I realized it was after 3AM in the UK, she couldn’t sleep.
The final jog was set for first light in England. Riders and grooms had been instructed to leave horses IN THEIR STALLS until the vet could evaluate them. Warming the horses up was not allowed. This was the final cut—We talked until her phone card ran out. Then I couldn’t sleep.
At 3 AM in MN I texted Aubrey (maybe her phone still worked) Did Comet pass the jog?
There was no reply.
At 5:30 this morning the phone rang and I was informed that Becky has deposited more pounds into her cell phone she now had more minutes than she will probably be able to use while she is still in England because, Comet passed the final jog!
They are going to HKG!!!
Trunks of tack are being loaded now. Aubrey leaves this evening, Comet leaves tomorrow morning. Becky flies British Air on Thursday. I will fly out early next week.
I wish them all safe travels.

This is a good blog with lots of great pictures.
Wow - I really love reading these blogs! I can’t believe how addicted to them I am! And boy can I ever understand what they are going through… I was Stephen Bradley and From’s groom for the Athens Olympics and lived through first hand all the stress and work just to have your horse sustain an injury - and BOOM! It is all over!! You get so focused and attached to that animal - being away from him for 5 minutes was uncomfortable for me, I was just constantly worried that he wanted or needed something! The hardest part was when he was out and I had to go back home and be away from him all the time - right when he was injured! It is like taking a drug away from an addict! I currently have a horse boarded with Stephen, and when I walk in the barn my horse and From both nicker and I have treats and love for both of them - that bond never breaks!
News from Max: they’ve made it!

Anyone know if Wofford will be blogging this year? He always does a fantastic job. I can still remember his description of being awed by watching Anky schooling in Athens and the illusion of Salinero dancing/bouncing across the mountain peaks in the background.
If anyone cares to check in with showjumping, Beezie Madden is blogging at http://teamusa.usatoday.com/bmadden/.
