Blue Armbands?

I googled already and couldn’t find anything on it. I’ve seen a few on people at Devon and some other shows. So what is the deal with the different colored armbands?

Eligibility for certain awards chosen by judges (ie: best child rider, etc)

It’s usually for Best Child Rider on a Horse or Pony. Whoever is wearing them is eligible for the award.

Well, unless Louise Serio is attempting to make a comeback as a junior, we are guessing that the blue armband she is wearing might be for WCHR points.

Saw a couple of pro riders in the greens wearing the same blue armbands, as well.

At Devon I heard it was for if you make a donation to the horseshow you can wear the ribbon and then you have a chance to win trip of the day.

This was by word of mouth though, I did not read it on anything official.

That is what the armbands were for at Pin Oak.

There were trip of the day armbands. I remain perplexed at the how/why but that’s what adults/pros had on at DHS.

The Blue Armbands are from the Equus Foundation and are for the Best Performance of each day in each ring. From the website: “The judge selects the winner from among the competitors (junior, amateur or professional) wearing the official Best Performance Competition Armband while competing in any division at the participating competition. The winner is the judge’s favorite and most memorable performance.”

Participants pay $20 for the armband which is a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation and is for horse welfare.
