If you are flying out of Lexington between today and Tuesday arrive at Bluegrass at least 2 hours early.
I arrived at 9:50 for an 11:30 flight. It took 30 minutes to get through the line. By the time I was done the line was out the doors. Security moved quickly (it helps to put your shoes in the first bin) but the TSA said it had been non-stop since 4 AM. If you are an international traveler add a half an hour.
There are so many people checking in that the self-check in kiosks are over heating. One had already shut down. Even with all the chaos the airport and airline workers were still lovely. Kudos to Lexington - Politest City on Earth!
I love that airport! It’s so small and cute, and they have those great statues outside of the horses walking with their grooms. Even the ziploc bags at security have a horse related logo on them.
That being said, I can imagine a big crowd overwhelming the place. Thanks for the heads up.
