Bluegrass Cat +1 to Turkey. Please tell me about breeding and racing in Turkey!

I remember Bluegrass Cat Racing, and I also recall Corinthian, another stallion that this fellow acquired from the States. Can anyone tell me about the industry in Turkey? Yes, I could look it up, but you guys are so much more interesting!

Thanks!

Aw man, Bluegrass Cat is a pretty darn good sire. One of my favorites. He’s not exactly been working with the best of the best in California and has still been holding his own. I’m not surprised foreign interest want to snap him up, but I hate to see him go.

I know zilch about the Turkey breeding industry except that they’ve bought quite a number of stallions over the past few years.

The sire of one of my horses ended up in Turkey I believe. Powers Court. Not sure if he’s still there. I think over the last decade the horse business has seen healthy growth in Turkey

Lots of stallions are going to Turkey. Lion Heart, Cuvee, Yonaguska, Powerscourt, Paco Boy, General Quarters, Papa Clem, Banknote, etc.

I think its comparable to the Russian thoroughbred industry. they frequent the sales here and take a lot of broodmares, yearlings and 2 y/o back with them. Not sure about their aftercare; it likely doesn’t exist. But they have garnished some great sires to enhance their breeding programs

Whoa wait… repatriated? Victory Gallop came back? Where is he now?

Sorry - I meant he’s an expat! I think they’re pretty fond of him over in Turkey…

I can’t even blame autocorrect on that one. Late hour plus nail polish fumes, maybe!

Well darn, I was excited that he might be back. It’s so expensive and challenging to get these guys back once they leave.

That’s a great article. Thank you for sharing it.

Happy for Turkey, very sad for me!! I love Bluegrass Cat horses… Corinthian is another I have come to really love, for sport horse prospects.
