Blundstone, Redback or Rossi boots? UPDATE: Redbacks ROCK!

I will need to replace my beloved Blundstones soon and have been reading about these alternatives.

I do not have a wide foot so a little narrower is no bid deal but I need a better insole-something with some kind of arch support.

Any experience with these?

Are they easy to get in the US?

Other slip on suggestions?

I bought some Redbacks about 8 years ago at Dressage at Devon and much preferred them to Blundstones. I have a high arch and the Blundstones tended to compress the top of my foot and make my toes go numb. The Redbacks didn’t.

One thing about the Redbacks was the insole came out, so you could use whatever arch supports work for you. They let me try several before I bought them.

Unfortunately, I don’t know where to get them now, as I have changed boot styles since then and haven’t looked.

I miss my Redbacks! Incredibly durable and so so so comfy (after they break in, which isn’t as easily as Blundstones). They have much better arch support than Blundstones.

I got Blundstones a few boot cycles ago instead of Redbacks and I’m not impressed. The sole disintegrated on the first pair and the leather upper on the second pair is cracking already. Now, I know it’s been a wet fall in SE PA but I expected more than just a couple of months of use out of each pair. My last Redbacks lasted me nearly a year–I’m HARD on my boots and don’t really take care of them, so that’s like them lasting at least 10 years for other people.

ETA here is the website http://www.redbackboots.com/index.html

Everyone here where either Rossi or Redbacks somewhat depending on their budget. I have had both but currently wear Redbacks. Only think I don’t like is that they seem to eat the heel of my socks within a day. Solved that with wearing heavy work socks which are super hot on +40C days :S

P.

Is this fit the same on sizing?

In other words is my size the same for Rossi or Redback as it is in Blundstone?

Love my Redbacks, they wear like iron. I put the Dr Scholls inserts in for arch support. I bought a second pair two years ago for when my originals wore out and so far they haven’t. I wear them every day.

Thanks! I just spoke to Redback and have ordered a pair!

Blundstones are now made in Taiwan or some such and the quality has gone to crap! You used to get years worth of wear, now you get months sigh Not worth buying anymore…

I bought my current pair last year at Rolex out of the last shipment of them that came from Australia and they are holding up just fine though I’m gonna die inside more than a little when they finally wear out. My last pair was on 5+ years when my JRT puppy took them out for me (oh he got it for that!)

I am pretty excited to try Redbacks-it was a tough choice between Redback and Rossi-the customer service for each was outstanding.

I have a pair of Redbacks and they have held up under heavy all day use for 1 1/2 years so far. Took some breaking in for me but the one very disagreeable thing for me is that they told me they were waterproofed and they were most decidedly NOT waterproof.

If only I could find a summer weight water proof all around riding boot that didn’t make my feet sweat.

My first pair of Redbacks just arrived (with the amazing leather custom insole) and I AM IMPRESSED!

The company service was OUTSTANDING and I am THRILLED with the fit and comfort.

I bought these boots:

with these insoles:

I wear a ladies size 9, not a wide foot. I am a 6 in the Blundstone 490 and they sent a 6 in the above boot.

They fit like they were made for me, quality of the leather is beyond my expectations and they feel like I am walking on air.

The custom insoles are simply icing on top.

Thumbs up to Redback! I think my Ariat terrains are officially retired!

Do you all ride in your Redbacks? I ask because I looked at their website and the boots don’t seem to have much of a heel. I’m somewhat concerned from a safety standpoint. I ride in my old Blunnies (puchased before they switched manufacturers) all the time, but they have a significant heel.

Hi. I am kinda looking for either new winter riding boots, or work boots (like Bogs).

Never heard of these and I like the look. Just curious, in the descriptions, I didnt see that they were waterproof and do they have some that are deemed winter boots, meaning they would keep your feet warm in cold weather?

I live in Illinois, so our winters have been brutal in the last few years. I am NOT looking forward to it.

Wow, I am so happy to have found a COTH thread via a Google search for "blundstone arch support.’

I’ve been out of the saddle for a couple months dealing with an SI joint issue and am at the stage of looking for the best barn boot options, particularly to accomodate my orthotics.

It’s expensive but seems imperative to get rid of the old boots that are worn down in all the “wrong” places for my new alignment.

What styles does everyone recommended for the Rossi’s?

Is the Easy Escape the Redback that is most popular?

Thank you - I feel like this is one of the big keys to getting me back in action comfortably! (Fingers crossed)

Can anyone speak to the Lace Ups?

With my high instep and wide foot, I cannot get into pull-ons for the life of me, so have to have lace up boots. My Terrains are about to give out and while I’d be happy with a pair of 8.5-C Width Black Terrains, I can’t find 'em for the life of me.

ChocoMare, If you want wider boots from Australia, you
need to order the half size. In Australian shoe sizes, the
half size is not longer than the corresponding full size, it
is wider. My experience was that no USA vendor imports
the half sizes, I had to buy directly from Australia.

Dressage riders: look!

They even have a rollkur model!
