I’m thinking about doing the BN3D in October and was wondering what sort of fitness preparation is recommended. Any ideas?
I conditioned for 12 weeks. I am happy to send you my conditioning plan if you PM your email. I would modify it though-it was for a T3D and made my 19 yo at the time TB WAY fit which made phase A interesting…
My honest opinion is that if you can trot and canter continuously for 30-45 minutes (20-30 trot and 10-15 canter), both of you should be plenty fit for BN3D. No need for canter sets. Maybe a trot set or two. But the bulk should be that you can go to a dressage or jump lesson and work without trainer stops for 30-45 minutes straight.
That is literally the bulk of what I do for Training level. Maybe add once a week hack on dirt road or asphalt for tendon, bone, and ligaments. Of course I do that regardless of level.
