Boarding around Portland OR

Hi all! I am pondering a move from the east coast to the Portland OR area. Looking at a job specifically in Newberg OR. I have a 15 yo German WB that I show occasionally in the 1.10m adult jumpers. Looking for a boarding facility with fantastic care and an awesome group of amateurs. Any recommendations appreciated!!!

I just moved to Oregon last year, and am loving it! I ride with Flipside, Philippa Melski, and it is a wonderful program! She has a fantastic team. I have a very hard keeper and they have done an outstanding job keeping him healthy. I found their program through another COTH member.

They are located in Newberg/Wilsonville, and there are a lot of barns out in that area. Additionally, there is a show venue the puts on A-rated shows in Wilsonville that are super fun!

Feel free to PM me for more info.

For reference, I am an amateur in my 30s juggling motherhood and riding.

Cheers!

Newberg is the hunter jumper Mecca in this area so you’ll have lots of good options! I am in a little different area but all I have heard of Phillipe is excellent as previous poster mentioned. Anyway, welcome if you do make it out, I feel like we have a great community of adult ammys. It’s a fairly small community and a lot of us know each other from other barns. There’s a good mix of highly competitive barns that show a lot, and those that do a handful of shows a year.

Agree with Flip being the top program on the west side of Portland. There’s also Cornerstone (in Bethany/Beaverton), Charlton Ridge, Lionheart (jumpers) out in Banks, Swan Training (near Huntercreek show facility), Imagination Lane (shows mainly on the road, CA, etc), Savin Hill, Kimberlinn (on the east side), Sherwood Forest (several programs at this facility), and Oz (Canby)

I am another adult ammy who’s been here for decades riding in the hunters and jumpers. We are a small, but mighty group of horse lovers in the area, and try to be as helpful as possible.

I highly recommend Charlotte Fisher at Kingfisher Sporthorses in Canby, OR. Beautiful facility and great care and training. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.
