Boarding in the Southern Pines/Vass Area

DH and I are relocating to NC for work. Going to be at Bragg, and renting a house somewhere between Bragg/Vass/Southern Pines/Lillington (I know it’s a large area). I’m looking for a place that offers really good care, private turn out, blanketing, and the rest of the normals that come with full care (not full training board tho). Just need a soft place for the horse to land for a year while we build our house/barn, most likely we will rent a house that is close to the barn to minimize drive time. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

If you are building a barn and able to do self-care, there are farms for rent in the area, too! Maybe try that vice boarding while house is under construction, and I think cost of a rental home + board would be about the same as renting a farm for everything in one place.

If you are on Facebook join the Sandhills Area Equestrians page.
Most of the H/J trainers in the area have some sort of lessons/training attached to the board (Mike Rosser, Patty Heuckeroth, Maryann Charles, Harold Chopping, Ashley Lovegrove) but will offer the care and individual turnout you are looking for. There are a lot of eventing trainers that don’t require lessons and when asking for recommendations on FB people will refer to them as H/J trainers even though they are not (just an FYI). You might be able to find a private facility without an on-site trainer. Just be prepared for sticker shock. Even basic board in the Sandhills is expensive!

Thanks for the info, I didn’t expect what I am looking for to be cheap and coming from Northern VA, I’m use to the insane costs of boarding.

Passing Lane, if you are riding your horse this year (I assume you are) try to find a barn that is on or has access to the Moss Foundation. It is a positively dreamy experience to ride on this 2500 acres of glorious Sandhills footing.
