boarding - northern virginia area

Looking for opinions/suggestions on boarding in Virginia! Warrenton, The Plains, Marshall, Middleburg, Catlett, Haymarket, Gainesville, Bristow, Nokesville areas

Must have an indoor with decent footing. I work full time so I need to be able to ride after work in the fall/winter.

Show barn type of boarding

Budget $1000

Currently at a barn off Zulla road but they are headed south…

Where do you live? There’s a new farm in Aldie just near Gilbert’s corner circle with a great indoor - Ohana Equestrian Preserve, you can find info at www.show-jumper.com

Double the budget posted, though.

That includes six lessons and what sounds like great care.

Clairvaux in Leesburg is right off Rt. 7 with a fantastic indoor! Bonus- lots of working ammies, so it’s still a very fun atmosphere even after hours.

Thanks! Her place does sound awesome, but more than I can spend right now. I live on the DC side of Warrenton and work in Rappahannock County.

Jess Fortin at Cut to the Chase stables in Purcellville,VA is the best! I can’t recommend her enough. At the moment, she just has a lighted outdoor; however, I believe building an indoor is in the works!!

Also, she has a variety of full/partial/consignment training options so you don’t have to ride in the dead of night during the week. It’s ideal for someone who works but maybe has an RDO or telework day so they could ride 3-4 days themselves and then she can ride whichever days you can’t make it out.

Jess is truly a top-notch horsewoman, she works harder than anyone I know, and she will accommodate most any budget. I encourage you to contact her, as she is on Facebook and via her website: https://www.c2cshowstables.com/

Also, Hedgeland equestrian center/Katie Petronelli is great and there’s an indoor. I think it’s in your price range for board, although I know with lessons/training your costs will add up to the same if not more than at C2C.

Maybe so, still double the posted budget.

Prestige training at Richmark Farm in Catlett. Board is under 1k, has a huge indoor, outdoor and some cross country jumps. Cute place with good staff. They are eventer mostly but worth a look. Only about a mile or two off of rt. 28.

Hmm, I know some, but they all seem a bit pricey! Here are a few I have heard good things about:
-Beverly Equestrian (SUPER fancy, but has amazing training the past two times I went there! I can’t remeber exact boarding costs, but I think they might be out of price range?.)
-FoxRock Farms (Haven’t ridden there before, but I have a friend who has ridden there many times, and she loved it!)
-Forecast Farms (Haven’t ridden there, but have heard many good things about them!)
I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but I hope it comes to use anyways!

It’s a brand new facility with an indoor and top notch footing directly in the area you are looking. I’d just send them a message because I believe they were advertising winter board recently for the stalls which will be open when they bring some to Florida.

Don’t know if you’re still looking, but I recommend Katie Petronelli at Shades of Bay in Waterford. She’s very flexible for those of us that work and never know what traffic is going to do that night. Hedgeland also has a great indoor ring and a lot of ride out.

Agreed! Fabulous atmosphere at Clairvaux - excellent care, quality training, and the people are fantastic. My gelding has absolutely thrived with Terri and her crew

Just saw that Katie Petronelli/Shades of Bay relocated to Tartan Farm in Lovettsville. Tartan is a lovely facility. Owners are great, Katie’s great. Definitely worth a look if the location is suitable, though might be too far north for the OP

I believe Tartan Farm is officially Leesburg, not Lovettsville. It’s on the East side of 15. That might shorten someone’s commute a little. :slightly_smiling_face:
