Boarding Options in SE Michigan?

Hello COTH!

I’m looking to tap into the hive mind of the forum and I am in the market for a place to board in SE Michigan.

My must have’s are reasonable space for turnout, no required training program, and an indoor arena. I’d be happy with a quieter place that’s not running camps or a lesson program, but I can be flexible as needed. I plan to haul out for lessons, so I don’t need an in-house trainer.

Any leads or ideas? Thanks in advance!

You might check for the online Saddle Up magazine covering Michigan, IN and Ohio things. Barns advertise in it. Most TSC stores have free paper copies each month. Also the FB sites fir Michigan Equine and other Michigan horse related things. I am seeing barns advertising, though not sure if they are in the area you want.

Thank you! I’ve done a pretty extensive Saddle Up search, so I was curious if any smaller word of mouth places could be dug up. I do have a few leads from the Facebook pages though.

Lou-Don Farm and Battle Creek Hunt Club. Let me know if you are interested in BCH and I’ll forward your request to the barn manager. The hunt club itself owns the facility, but it is managed by Danielle Vigue who is a professional trainer --I think she’s either in AZ or OH right now.

I didn’t think those places were East enough for the OP. Haven’t been to either in a long time! Had fun at both years ago.

Don’t board but a friend does at TNT Farms. Seems like a good place.

You might want to give us a home area, then how long do you want to drive to get to the barn. Great suggestions given, but if you are way east, the drive would be long. Those places are west, past the halfway mark (I-69 north and south) of the State.

Thank you all for taking the time to brainstorm!

Sadly, I am over by 96 and 275 - so those are both a bit of a haul. Ideally I can keep my one way commute under 40 minutes.

I’ve seen Danielle Vigue advertise and the place looks great. I believe a friend had a good experience boarding there, but it’s about 2 hours away.
