just realized how long this one thread is.

Went back to look at the beginning, and the word stunning struck me, because I just don’t feel like any of these situations has been stunning.

Sadly it feels like they’ve always been super common, and I’m genuinely not surprised these days by any random (usually) dude turning out to be a predator.

And I’m sickened, but not surprised, by people who have been role models to so many who turn out to support these monsters.

Sad commentary on humanity, and serves to emphasize that being proficient at something doesn’t make one a decent human being.

Cannot emphasize enough how tiring it is to watch you participate in defending sexual abusers for 40+ pages. Truly disgusting.

I’m not defending Bob McDonald in particular or sexual abusers in general. You seem not to pick up on any subtleties in posts, or even blatant facts, such as I NEVER dropped my anonymity OR said I was Diane Carney.

This thread would be pages shorter if you hadn’t made the Diane Carney accusation based on your misreading, then excuse yourself by saying it was just a “joke that didn’t work”.

I’m absolutely not the only one who finds it blatantly obvious you are defending sexual abusers and the like by saying that supporting SafeSport or advocating for a stronger organization higher than SS undermines the legitimacy of SS… I must just not “get it.” Could be those subtleties that go way over my head…

If you want to argue hypotheticals outside of fact, you can’t expect people to drop the niceties and the nuance.

I agree with you that you are not the only one who misunderstands and misrepresents what I write. But your assertion that I was dropping my anonymity and claiming to be Diane Carney was in a league of its own in terms of failure to understand the written word. Some people miss the nuances; you miss the entire point sometimes.

I support SafeSport.

Who is “advocating for a stronger organization higher than SS”? I did not notice anyone advocating that, so it is not true that I have asserted that doing so “undermines the legitimacy of SS.”

YD, no one agrees with you/likes your posts because they can’t even figure out what you’re advocating for, except that you want to argue with everyone who likes the SafeSport system. I’m not reading every word of your unreasonably long posts because you can write as many words as you want and still say nothing. I applaud your dedication; that being said, I am done engaging with you.

Just so we’re clear,

1. SS is necessary and valuable.
2. The actions of McDonald and the like are reprehensible. People are right to question his intentions with a very young Debbie McDonald.
3. Make any man a God and he will always let you down.

It’s been evident all along that you don’t read all the words in my posts, given that you misinterpret so badly what I (and others) write.

I don’t think it is true that “no one” understands what I’m advocating. Just because you don’t have the time or the bandwidth to understand what I’m advocating does not establish that “no one” understands my posts.

If “engaging” with me amounts to half reading my posts then firing off a misrepresentation of the post with an ad hominem insult, I greatly appreciate your promise to cease engaging.

You are wrong. I agree with and like many of Yankee Duchess’s posts because unlike you, she makes sense, has cogent arguments (even when we disagree, I can recognize that they are cogent), and refrains from misrepresenting others’ posts. Unlike you.

I have lost count of the sea lions on this thread. There is no reason for the sea lions to go back & forth, back & forth, pointlessly going nowhere … but I guess that’s what sea lions do. Thread might be half the length without the part that is just bouncing sea lions?

I have no opinions on B. McDonald as I wouldn’t know him if he knocked on my door. I have a fair amount of belief that Safe Sport knows what it is doing. But somehow I’m saddened or troubled by the comments trying to pin the victim label on Debbie. Or, for that matter the “she must have known” accomplice label. In a time of 50% or higher divorce rates, a 50 year marriage must have something going right. She is a successful horsewoman in many ways, has her own career to manage, the reality of a family crisis and shouldn’t have to be dragged somewhere by internet people. IMO, let the woman be.

As I understand it, “sea lioning” refers to someone asking a series of questions, feigning interest in the topic, but with the intention of exhausting the target.

Threads would also be shorter if commentary on other posters’ posting style were eliminated. Does it contribute to the topic to accuse other posters of “sea lioning” (if that is what is going on here; I’m not sure it is)?
