Bobby's Bridles - Which "Quality" Level to Get?

Looking to get a quality a nice fancy stitched hunter bridle for my horse with a refined face (cob sized). There will be no showing on the A circuit–maybe just local shows. It won’t receive a ton of use because I have other bridles, but I’d really like a quality bridle with the fancy stitching and on the reins, that I’ll have for a long time and that will get better with age. Would strongly prefer monocrown. Does anyone have experience with the different quality levels they offer right now? Do I need to get the “Signature Series Round Raised Padded Monocrown Snaffle Bridle” for $239 or is the “Silver Spur Fancy Stitched Padded Monocrown Snaffle Bridle” for $179 just as nice? I don’t mind paying more if it is really worth it, but hoping for some input. Thank you!

I have a Platinum Series Bobby that’s a few years old–plain raised, no fancy stitching. I don’t see any “Platinum” series being sold anymore, so that may be what they’re calling their Signature range now (price point is the same).

It’s a nice bridle–soft leather, nice stitching, etc. It hasn’t taken oil quite as well as I’d like (it’s still a bit orange for my taste…it’s one of their lighter leathers), but I would buy again.

I also bought and sold (bought a cob thinking it would fit my small horse…it was pony sized) a Signature Series (which I think may be the Silver Series now, again, given the price point) and it was nice as well, though the leather was a stiffer type with more of a glossy sheen to it. Not cheap, just different. I didn’t clean or oil this one so I can’t speak to how well it took oil, nor how it wears…but it was also nice. If you can, I’d go look at both of them to compare the leather, so you can decide which you prefer.

Thank you!

i had the Signature Series Round Raised Padded Monocrown Snaffle Bridle equivalent a few years back. it wasnt rounded at the top back then but otherwise the same. It was also the darkest color probably also a “platinum collection” peice that they don’t carry anymore. It was nice and soft but it didnt really take oil or grease. I kinda just wiped it down with a damp towel and a little soap. the product just sat kinda ontop of it if i tried to grease or oil it and left a film. but it stayed nice for awhile with probably 5 days a week of use? maybe 2 years.

Eventually the top part (not the padding) began to kinda ripple? for lack of a better word. and you could see kinda these crease marks like whatever the leather was treated with might’ve slowly gave way to humidity.

Plenty of other nice options in your price range. Skip the Bobby’s. I think they’re crap.
