Bobby's fancy-stitched bridle - color and crown questions

I’m in search of a dark/havana-colored, fancy-stitched Bobby’s bridle with a padded or a mono crown. I am going through the selection on TackZone, and I see a few that I like, but I’m not 100% sure on the crown based on the photos. Is tobacco darker or lighter than havana? The horse who’s going to wear the bridle has a fine-ish Thoroughbred head, so I’m not looking for anything super-wide.

Right now, it looks like the 2912 model is what I’m looking for. Does anyone have this bridle?

Any links or recommendations are appreciated. I dug around in the archives, but some of the models/links have expired. Thank you in advance.

I just bought one of those recently. I emailed about the colors and told them to send me the darkest one they had as my horse is a dark brown. They sent me Havana. My horse is 7/8 TB, so probably has a similarly-sized head to your horse’s. Here’s a picture of my horse wearing it:

The strap for the noseband is designed to go over the top of the crownpiece, but I put it on the traditional way with noseband strap underneath.

My daughter’s pony (TB/Welsh) has this bridle. It is a very nice bridle and I’d go with the Havana. The light brown (called Oakbark on the Just for Ponies website) is the color we got and it’s a little orangeish. It took quite a number of oilings to make it more brown.

Thank you for the info!

TackZone also replied already- here’s more info about colors:

…all of the havanas are super dark chocolate color. The Tobacco is a light light almost blonde color. So you would want anything that is Dark Brown or Brown or Havana. Havana will be slightly darker but it matches very well with the Dark Brown. Dark Brown and Brown are the exact same color. Light brown is a chestnut color.

I don’t have that exact bridle, but have a very similar Bobby’s one - mine is padded, square raised, fancy stitched, but with a monocrown.

Here’s what the havana looks like. I have a “brown” Equipe saddle (very dark brown), and it matches well. This is unoiled, too - will hopefully darken just a touch with a light coat of oil!

Thank you! Do you remember which model # your bridle is? I’m trying to figure out which ones are monocrown.

Tobacco is a lovely shade similar to light havana, more of a yellow-brown to start with. I personally like to use a lighter colored tack and then have it mellow with age and use. I have the 1511 http://www.tackzone.com/catalog/1511-english-leather-fancy-stitched-snaffle-bridle-p-169.html

![]( have that bridle and I believe mine is the Havana colour. It is a gorgeous bridle, I am very happy with it  Here is a link to a couple pictures of my guy wearing his:

I don’t see my exact bridle on Tackzone - the one in your original post comes closest. And I threw out the tag for mine, too. If it helps, I purchased it from Greenway Saddlery in Scottsdale, AZ for around $180. She may have more in stock there, or something else. I was in Canada and she picked that out for my mom with just a description of my horse & saddle.

Thank you so much for all the info!

I’ve bought several of the Bobby’s bridles over the years. The havanna-colored ones bleed for a very long time every time they get wet/damp/sweaty. Now, I only order the tobacco-colored ones. Once you remove the wax/preservative coating these bridles ship with, they will take oil and darken quite nicely (and no bleeding).
