Bockmann Trailers

For those of you who have owned Bockmann trailers for a while, how do you feel about them?

I’m thinking about swapping my Hawk trailer for a Bockmann Portax K. Would love to hear some opinions now that they’ve been around for a while.

Also, thoughts on where to bring them for maintenance?

I’ve had a Portax LK for four years— really like it. The windows and groom doors on mine were not watertight, though. And the Velcro holding up the little piece of the storm flap to expose the screen failed after about a year. They do make a full screen version. If you are ordering new, consider having hooks and bridle brackets added to the tack compartment; it was a bit of a pain to add myself. The chest and butt bars were not sufficiently padded for my taste; easily fixed with yoga mats and duct tape. I only had to have routine maintenance done and one brake cable replaced, which were done by a mobile service and also a local-ish trailer shop. The original tires it that came with (new) started to delaminate— you may want to just go ahead and replace them.

Ironically I’ve just ordered a Hawk (Balanced Ride)— how did you like yours? Anything that didn’t hold up or that you would have ordered differently?

Mine as well after two years, which is disappointing.

I have one and love mine, although I’ll admit it hasn’t had as much road time as I’d like.

Seems to have held up just fine.

Off topic but replying to irishchick. I have had Hawks and now a Balanced Ride since 2006. My horses love the Balanced Ride. I have never had an issue with any of my trailers.
