Would I be crazy to body clip a 3 wk old foal? It is hot and humid here. They come in from 11AM-6PM but baby still ends up a little sweaty. I spray them off before sticking them in their stalls in front of fans, so he at least gets to enjoy a bit of evaporative cooling. Just wondering if he’s too young to consider clipping.
We have clipped all of our foals – maybe not at 3 weeks, but for sure by 2 months. We never clipped below the hocks/knees, but everywhere else. Never had an issue.
Def not crazy. I end up clipping all of mine. I leave the legs and head.

Yes, I tend to do it in early July No matter how old the foal is because they have so much trouble regulating body temperature with a full foal coat and summer heat. They are so much better once clipped.
We always clip our foals by early July too. They are so much more comfortable!
