It’s a win for Endel and Bohemian with a 72% in his first ever CDI Grand Prix!
Wow. Good for him!! Adrienne had a good day also.
Are they not counting the GP version B tests he rode in the early 2000’s as GP tests? He has his USDF gold so I’m confused. Still very happy for him and Bohemian on a successful outing. The horse looks happy in his job, and healthy.
Those were at National level. This was a CDI, so his international Grand Prix debut.
They are also doing the CDI3* GPS this afternoon at 1:45 EDT.
The class starts at 11:35 EDT. Start list is here. You will also be able to see live results posted there.
But they said he’d never done a national GP before he borrowed a horse to do one in January.
Sorry - who is “they”?
Eurodressage, Chronicle, etc
From Eurodressage, bolding mine:
Remarkably, Ots was making his international grand prix debut with the 14-year-old by Bordeaux. Although a seasoned competitor nationally, this was the rider’s very first grand prix in a CDI and he only rode his first national, classic Grand Prix test in January on Sai Baba Plus.
I think the key word is “classic” GP. He did show horses in the Developing GP, which is a different (and presumably slightly easier as its for young horses) test and I’m not sure what the GP - B is from 20ish years ago. Entirely possible these earlier tests did qualify him for his gold medal. Dunno…
I believe USDF considers the developing GP test more like an I2 test which would not get you the GP scores for a gold medal, but I could be wrong.
Yeah, it’s a bit confusing.
The 12/23/2023 Eurodressage article says:
He rode the young Grand Prix horses Agastrofos and Donatus to the reserve champion’s title at the 2012 and 2014 U.S. Developing Grand Prix horse Championships. Ots is yet to make his international debut at Grand Prix level. He has been training with Canadian German Albrecht Heidemann.
The 2/29/2024 Eurodressage says:
Although he has competed (Agastrofos and Donatus) at developing Grand Prix level, he only did his first national Grand Prix test in his life a few weeks ago on Heidi Humphries’ schoolmaster Sai Baba Plus.
So it sounds like he did Developing GP on Agastrofos and Donatus, but his first national (classic) GP on Sai Baba Plus. And he has now competed in his first international (CDI) GP - and GPS.
Winning the GP and placing second in the GPS at a 3* CDI is certainly a nice start for them. It will be interesting to see how they do at Terra Nova and WEC.
