Bombers Bits? (Happy Tongue especially)

Have to start with… I am a bit hoarder, I am aware of my problem, I’ve tried to stop but to no avail.

That said, has anyone used these bits? Horse currently goes pretty well in a Neue Schule Verbindend two ring but can still get a bit head tossy in it. I have been intrigued by the Bombers line, and now it looks like a euro site that carries them is doing a 30% code for Black Friday. Wondering if it’s worth adding to my collection? Thoughts on any of these bits?

So…

I don’t have anything from the Bomber line.

However,

I do have a Shires Blue Alloy low port mullen. Very similar design, a fraction of the price. My horse LOVES it.

I’ve heard through the grapevine that the Bombers bits hold up much better than the cheapy Shires one. I might just have to grab one with the 30% code! What site?

I would be interested in the code too!

Hi, my name is nosuchperson, and I’m a bit hoarder. The size of my collection is actually kind of embarrassing at this point.

I bought a Bomber Happy Tongue bit for my bit hating mule. Actually, I bought two, an O-ring first, which I felt was a bit too small and then a D-ring in the next bigger size. I’m very happy with the bits. Well made and, while the mule doesn’t love them, he certainly tolerates them better than anything I tried before. I’ve been thinking about buying another O-ring in the larger size, because I like the way the O-ring works with the Micklem bridle+bit clips better than the D-ring. And at this point, what’s one more bit?

Enjoy!

I have a bomber, the D ring ported barrel, and my horse liked it way better then everything we had tried before, but was still a bit too reactive. We settled on the HS Duo- but I still use the bomber for the occasional tune up. I definitely think they are worth the investment, especially for 30& off!

I have the Happy Tongue Loose Ring, and the mare I bought it for was a different horse in it. It is particularly good for horses that hate tongue pressure (as the name indicates). They are well made and the customer support is brilliant. I don’t know if they will do it for the USA, but here in S.Africa, you can swap out bits with their ongoing advice until you find one suited for your horse.

I have a happy tongue loose ring and one other one I’m blanking on right now. Both bits are loved by everything that I’ve tried them on. I’ll edit with the other one as soon as i’ve had coffee and regained my memory

Ok, I’m back… received my bit today, ended up with the Bomber Blue Fulmer (https://www.bombers.co.za/bits-by-colour-code/sensitive-tongue-a-head-shakers/bomber-blue/product/3428-fulmer-bomber-blue.html). My question is… because of how the mouthpiece is ported, I’m worried about whether it’s appropriate to use keepers on this bit and if they’ll make the bit work incorrectly. Does anyone own a similar bit and use keepers?

Contact Bombers directly and ask. They are usually extremely helpful.
