more to come…

Fate’s Twist died as a rising two year old from a pasture accident.

I am convinced that much of the talent in the Bonne Nuit line came from his dam Bonne Cause. I traced a mare line from her daughter, Brave Bonnie, to a mare out west named Go Gaiter who left quite a few descendants, all of whom seemed to be very hard knocking race horses. Some of that line may still exist.

Following along…

I bred and own TF Classic Twist (Ditto) and of course also had his sire, Triple Twist. Ditto will be headed home this weekend after being on a breeding lease for the last year and a half. He sired 2 lovely TB foals last summer and should have a few more on the way for this summer. He will be beginning his eventing career this Spring (fingers crossed).

As Viney mentioned, Fate’s Twist is deceased.

Thank you for collecting all of this info!

Also GEMINI who is Gem Twist’s clone and he is currently in France for a few years. The Chapot’s have several offspring already in training in the US, a few were supposed to make their showing debut in 2016.

Would love to get my hands on one just to have fun with.

Since Gemini is in France, wonder what he is being bred to over there. Perhaps producing steeplechase/hurdle horses? Surprised the eventers are not lining up to breed to him considering the immense success these lines have had in eventing!

Had heard that some of the Bonne Nuit lines can be hot but I think it also depends on what the other lines involved are. Can’t dismiss the raw talent on them though. Good movers, lots of jump, very pretty conformationally.

Viney Ridge, all of Go Gaiter’s descendants are covered in my 1st post of this thread. Some are still out there, not sure if alive or not. She traces directly to Bonne Nuit in her pedigree

TwistofFate; I loved your stallion Triple Twist. Have watched his videos online. There is a full TB who could’ve competed in the Hunter Derbies today and held his own. Beautiful jump on him and always admired his Confirmation.

Twistoffate… any way you can get updated pictures and video of ‘Ditto’? I really wish you the best of luck with him… will be watching his career.

Twistoffate–Nice to hear that Ditto has had some TB kids with hopefully more to come this year. Will he be available for breeding (live cover or collected) in the future or will you focus solely on his performance career? Either way, it’ll be fun to watch his career! Best of luck!

Great thread! I have had my eye on Simba Twist, or possibly frozen from Triple Twist for my mare who also has Chilly Beau in her 3rd. It’s great to hear that “Ditto” is coming home and will be starting a performance career. That might be a better option in a year or two for my older mare… If you keep him intact. Such neat bloodlines. Do you still have his mom Twistoffate?

Thank you snaffle1987. He is greatly missed but I’m blessed to have his son

Thank you beowulf! If you have FB I’m Melissa Mayo in real life lol. I post lots of pics and videos and will be updating once he arrives. You’ll have to put up the the kiddo pics too though

zipperfoot- Thank you! He will be available for a little bit. It honestly depends on how we can juggle it all. I have 3 small children, a full time career, a farm and a husband in the army. There’s a high probability he will be gelded but only after he’s collected and frozen but it won’t be until fall or next year.

Thanks, Virginia Horse Mom! I do have Triple Twist frozen available, though unproven. I do still have Ditto’s dam. I have been eventing her until my youngest arrived. A friend is using her as a lesson horse currently

Interesting to note that Bonne Nuit had a full sister: named Hard Lot. She was a grey mare born about 1932. She had one foal: Sunt Girl (By Hero Worship by War Hero)bred by Mrs. M.E. Whitney.

Stunt Girl also had one foal, Black Etta, Born in 1950. She was by Perfect Charge (By Challenger and out of a Man O War mare). Black Etta produced the Puissance horse and Nation’s Cup CHampion, Trick Track, who was a member of the USET team from 1966 to 1972.

Trick Track was listed as “Male” and was by Gray Admiral, by War admiral and out of a Mahmoud mare, and as noted above was a highly successful jumper.

Lots of ManO’War blood in this line which I think also helped in the athletic department; not just the Bonne Nuit connection.

Trick Track never had any offspring so the line ended there.

Researching Bonne Nuit’s sire, Royal Canopy, there are many offspring and direct descendants in Australia and New Zealand.
Royal Canaopy spent a few years in Ireland at Stud but was then imported to Virigina.

I am finding in my research that a lot of the royal canopy direct descendants have a great deal of Irish, France, and British influence in their pedigrees which might be a good thing for those still looking at these lines for sport horses: jumping, turf, etc.

Since 2000 here are direct lines to Royal Canopy to horses born

Oceanic Blue: 2000Bay stallion/Colt. Australian bred. 17 starts, 3 wins, 2 places, 3 shows. By Blue Tusmani (Afleet x Najinksy) Out of My Sea Dolly (who is the direct descendant of ROyal Canopy. My Sea Dolly was by Sead Road out of a ROyal ROcket (GB) dam

Besides Triple Twist and his son, are any of the other above listed colts available to the public? I googled a couple of the colts and their breeders and came up empty.

And Gemini–I can’t find any info on him newer than 2012.

Gemini is standing in France right now but he already has offspring in the states on the ground at CHado Farms (Chapot’s place). They likely have some of him frozen here already until he comes back to the states.
