Boot Cleaner for Daily Cleaning

I bought some new tall boots and they have a much slimmer ankle than my old boots. Something is happening that I didn’t expect - I am sweating through them at the ankle/the pony is sweating through them. This means that post ride I have big white sweat marks left on the leather. Since this is obviously not good to leave on the leather long-term, I’ve found myself cleaning them every time I ride.

I’ve always used Castile soap and lederbasalm, but I’m looking for something a little less drying to use nearly daily. I’ve also found I have to do two rounds of Castile to really get the sweat out.

Does anyone have recommendations for a boot cleaner that can be used that frequently and still safely polished over for shows?

When I worked in a tack shop that fit and sold tall boots, we always advised clients not to use any tack cleaners or conditioners on their boots. The reason was that tack cleaner is designed for a different type of leather than boot leather.

Our recommendation, even on high end boot, was a daily wipe with a damp cloth. If you feel like the leather is drying out, use a shoe leather conditioner as needed. We sold this one: https://www.amazon.com/Cadillac-Leather-Conditioner-Cleaner-Lotion/dp/B008VJ95JE?th=1 as it is designed for shoe/boot leather.

I use this conditioner once a week and wipe my boots down about every other ride (in humid NC) and my boots look great after several years.

I just use a wet washcloth. If my boots got really sweaty, I leave them out on my trunk with the boot trees in so they’ll dry instead of in a boot bag. I used to apply Der Dau Boot Conditioner once a week, but since the price has gone up so much (used to be like $10), I’ve not been doing that. Or I use a generic “Leather Lotion” from a shoe store. I polish a few times a year.

I agree with the others; damp cloth after each ride, and then I use Der Dau Boot Conditioner once a week.
