Boot help, opinions please?

I’m looking to get some brown boots for my cubbing attire and I found this source on ebay that is reasonably priced. Has anyone had experience with this brand of boot? I’m assuming their imported, which is fine, as I don’t want to spend $$$$ on brown boots, but do want a decent pair.

There are three styles to choose from…I can’t decide which I should go with.

There’s the three buckle:

The zip front (I love front zip boots so I’m partial to this one):

And the zip back field:

So which should I pick, if any? What are your takes on the buckle closures? I’m thinking the zip back field would be most traditional looking…I should probably go with those…but I like the other two as well. Can someone help me decide?

For that low price, I wonder how durable the zippers would be? That would make me lean toward the 3 buckle (not that I’ve ever owned any.)

My friend purchased these last year and has been very happy with them. She called the store directly and they were very helpful with finding the correct size for her measurements.

Wish they’d fit my calves, I’d be saving up.

jmho!

Drop the polo boots from consideration imho! I mean…you wouldn’t wear cowboy boots out hunting right?!!

You’re absolutely right. What about the 3 buckle field boots…are those considered acceptable? I’ve only seen them in person once before…

Several folks in our hunt wear these. I think they look smashing. <no smilie for drool, is there?> Only ever seen them advertised in men’s sizes, tho… Maybe I just wasn’t looking hard enough.

I wear three-buckle field boots during cubbing season. I prefer them to zippers because, sooner or later, zippers are going to break. They also allow for some adjustment depending on layers - cubbing here can go anywhere from 80 to 30 degrees and if you need a couple pairs of socks and heavier britches, you just let the buckles out a hole or two.

Are the 3 buckle field boots acceptable for ladies? I have only seen them on men. I can wear men’s shoes, so that is intriguing. Men’s are wider in the shoe and calf, normally.

I wonder…

I’ve always wondered about the 3 buckled boots too. Are they snug enough? Don’t those weany little straps break easily? I know my calves would give them a tough job and just never saw them as sturdy enough. can they stand “the strain” I mean some of us
have…swelling…or shiftage…in our legs over the course of a days hunting… Mostly I see them on riding intructors standing and wearing boots all day. Just wonderin’!!!

Thanks for all the input guys!

I think I’ve decided to keep my eyes peeled for a nice used pair of quality brown field boots. (Der Dau, Vogel, Dehner…)

I’ve found several nice pairs in the above mentioned brands between $250.00-$300.00 used, but none are my size. :frowning: I’ll just have to keep looking!

Better to get a 1/2 worn out quality boot for a little more than the price of a so-so boot that will only last 1/2 as long!
