Does anyone have any hacks for keeping your boot zippers up? My deniros come slightly unzipped as I ride and my parlantis are just awful and have to be fixed multiple times per ride. The loops don’t seem to help much. There has to be something I can do to fix this!!! I thought of taking zip ties to loop through the zippers and the snap at the top. Any other suggestions??
I had this issue once. I zipped them up, and put a strip of black electrical tape over the zipper to hold it in place, which was invisible to the eye. Needed new tape each day, but it was never a big problem. Did not hurt the boots
Use a black string (like the one you use for your number) and thread the string thru the zipper top and tie around the top snap. One of my Parlantis always falls down so I have to do this. It’s a pain but it works.
I’m surprised the tabs/slot that you put the zipper/grab through doesn’t hold them up. I don’t know about the Deneros but the Parlantis have tabs/slot to slide the zipper/grab into…
So the trick with the Parlantis doesn’t even require you to put the zipper tab through the slot. Parlantis have the two pieces that come together to snap behind the knee, the inner elastic and the outer leather. Simply put the zipper tab between the two and snap. Problem solved.
Took me longer than I care to admit to figure that out.
Why don’t you just have the zipper pulls replaced with the kind that ‘lock’ when laid flat? It’s not expensive to do and takes all that aggravation away. I just had mine done and now no more slip for under $20
For some reason the little leather loops (no clue what they are actually called) that you thread the zipper through rip almost immediately on every pair of boots I’ve ever owned (which is embarrassingly A LOT). Because of this, my zippers slip down while I ride too. One strategy I figured out is to use a safety pin to re-attach the leather loops. You can actually thread the safety pin through the end of the zipper once it is zipped up and it will stay up. It is not a particularly glamorous trick though.
I tried this, but it doesn’t seem to work for mine. I wish it were that easy
Thank you everyone, I have a few good tricks to try now! I like the number string one, I had thought of yarn, but worried that would tear as I rode.
Omg, I can’t believe I didn’t know this. I have one zipper that always falls down and this worked like a charm. Thank you!!
If your boots don’t have that leather tab at the top to hold the zipper up (or if it falls off), take 2 black braiding rubber bands, thread and knot them through the hole in zipper pull, then put the swagger tab through the rubber bands when you snap it closed. The rubber bands should stay put in the zipper pull and last a couple of months before they fall apart. Cheap and easy fix.
My Parlantis - I had to replace the zippers immediately. I take two snap hooks and have my shoe guy put them on each side of the zipper under the leather piece that snaps at the top, add a shoe string loop. Zip up, fix the shoe string loop under the zipper and snap the leather pieces shut. Works but it is a lot of modifications for such fancy boots. IMO the more expensive the boot, the more likely the zippers break and zip down. Cheap Ariats or Tredsteps never did. Odd, eh?
@kenyarider I was thinking the same thing! My old Ariats NEVER did this and my spare Tredsteps don’t either.
