Boots and ankle brace

Broke my ankle and am now in a lace up brace. I can get a lace up paddock boot over the brace, but my leather half chaps wont zip over the brace. Has anyone found a half chap that is stretchy enough to zip over the ankle brace?

I’m getting a half chap repaired. It split along a seam. I’m having them patch it with something stretchy. I bet you could get a shoe repair place to slash the half chap and add a generous gusset.
