So I’ve learned my lesson and realized I can’t wear Ariat boots. Supposedly my instep is too high. I can’t get my feet into the boots unless they’re a half to a full size too big, which results in them being too sloppy. Not looking to ride in them. Can anyone recommend brands that might work for me? I did have a pair Boulet boots when I went to university, and can’t remember any problems with them. But I find they are a little too plain.
Justins are way too narrow for me, Ariats second too narrow, Tony Lama, Twisted X and most others fit much better.
You just have to try several and see what works best for you.
Don’t bother with Boulet as they have changed enough that the instep is quite low compared to what it was; I have a very high instep and a smallish foot (6.5) and find myself in a men’s 10 before I can get my foot past the throat of either Boulet or Ariats. I can wear Justin, Tony Lama and a few others that the brand name escapes me at the moment.
Justin and Dan Post work best for my wide foot with a high arch. I am true to size with them.
I have flat feet, but other brands to try: Anderson Bean (my favorite), Logans, Luchese, Harris, Justin, Laredo.
Try looking online at Pard’s, Rod’s, Harris, Logan’s, Drysdales, Cavenders’.
I love my Johnny Ringo boots and my sister sweares by Anderson Bean.
I’m in Ontario so some of those brands aren’t easy to find. But it gives me some to research, and order online. I’ve seen some Luchese boots that are absolutely gorgeous.
You could also try a lace-up boot. You can get your foot in easily, and adjust for a custom fit.
I have a high instep and can only wear Anderson Bean or Lucchese boots…unless I go to a lace-up style, and then the options are pretty limitless.
If you are going to ride in your boots, be sure your boots are the kind that fits loose enough to come off easily if you happen to get hung somehow.
That is a bit more questionable with lace-ups, that tend to fit tighter.
I know several that may be dead today if the boot would not have turned loose at a critical time.
Won’t be riding in them. These are strictly for fashion! Including to my brother’s wedding in June. So they have to be gorgeous!

If Ariats are too small Luchese’s will be too. I wear both brands and my Ariats are loose on me compared to my Luchese’s. And I have a few pair of both so it is how they are made…

Another narrow the options down question-boots for a narrow heel and wide forefoot?
Twisted X,hands down.I have the EXACT same problem with Ariats.Twisted X are amazing,super comfy and fit well.

I have a wide foot/high arch women’s size 11 attached to my ankles! I happen to ride in Ariat Heritage ropers in Men’s 8.5 or 9. It takes a bit to break them in but they fit like slippers when they do!
You might try mens sizing, to get the width needed and instep support in the right place.
I have gone to purchased arch supports, add them to all my shoes and boots. I just have a VERY high arch, need the extra support, even in very good brand name shoes and boots. Ariats makes some nice mens lace-ups, sold at the local TSC store, which I have never needed to “break-in” because they are comfortable from the start.
Mens Western boots come in all colors and attractive tops. Give them a look-see, might be just what you want in pretty for the wedding.
You might need to try some various brands of foot supports, to find the kind that work best for you, but they are not expensive and their addition to my footwear will let me be on my feet all day long.
I have no idea how they fit, but I am really loving the look of the TinHaul boots, and they are definitely available here in Ontario!
Rocky Boots is also a great brand and not terribly expensive. I have the same problem with some Ariat models, like the Fat Baby line.
