Botox for horses?

A horse boarded at the same facility as my horse came back from an off site lease lame. I was told in conversation that the horse had “Foundered or something due to poor farrier work”. While this seems odd, I surmise there is some sort of issue in the hoof.

Horse has been x rayed, but I haven’t seen those films or spoken to the attending vet. What I do know for a fact, is that a local, respected equine vet is doing “experimental Botox treatments”.

I have not heard of such a thing before and was curious if any of you had?

So, Botox injections as a treatment for hoof centric lameness. Any takers? I’m simply curious.

Yes, years ago on my ancient foundered pony. If I remember correctly botulism toxoid was injected in the muscle surrounding the DDFT, allowing it to relax (much like Botox does for wrinkles!) and taking the strain off the the attachment to the coffin bone. It helped immensely, like night and day. It was cheap and didn’t last forever but to me it was worth every penny.
