BOTOX for Trigger Points

Has anyone had BOTOX injections for trigger points? Doc suggested it for a couple nasty recurrent TrPs in my shoulders this morning. How different is it from the normal TrP injections?

I have had this done and it is a welcomed relief! My doctor who treats my migraines also did this for my muscles that are terribly knotted and tight & cause tension headaches. How they differ is that they are small injections of Botox, which causes certain muscles to become paralized. Sometimes I will have some side effect–feel tired, run slight fever, but these are only slight and don’t last long. It is certainly worth it.

I have a pt that had botox shots in her upper legs to help relax the muscles and be able to stretch them further during her physical therapy session. She said it helped her a lot and def. made it easier to use her legs.
