Boxing Day Meet

One of my local Hunts and the traditional Boxing Day Meet. A very damp, grey, foggy day.

Mmmmm - that pervasive damp hound, sweaty horse odour :unamused:

Mmmmm: the scent of crushed grass and mud, that stinky hound smell on ones hands… It’s great, isn’t it!

I saw that. I was impressed that the Hunt had so much faith in the good behaviour of their hounds. My experience is otherwise!

Just curious, how do you mean? Friendliness? Staying around?

Because they live as a pack together and have only a relatively short time living as a more “domestic” animal when “walked” as a puppy, in my experience Foxhounds are often curious and briefly friendly but really are fairly shy of humans. They keep an eye on each other and one will quickly follow what another hound is doing (such as just wandering off somewhere). They are lacking in good domestic graces such as not peeing at will, anywhere, or not stealing any food they can snatch. Lovely people but not necessarily easy to fit into a smallish room full of human people.
