Boz Saddles

Anyone care to tell about your experiences with Boz saddles?

Are they comfortable for the rider?
Do they really fit all horses?
Any sore backs?
Due to the forward placement of the rider’s seat is the horse’s performance/attitude enhanced over a more traditional middle-of-the-back rider seat?

No saddle will ever fit every horse. Some saddles, by virtue of their design, will fit a larger number of horses but there isn’t a saddle on the planet that is one size fits all. I recently purchased a Sensation Hybrid treeless saddle that I believe may come somewhat closer to fitting more horses than the Boz saddles. Simply because the Sensation Treeless saddles have NO hard parts in them at all. They are very high quality structured saddles but the whole thing is soft and squishy. Even though the saddle has no hard parts in it, it is suprising stable and secure. I cannot imagine ever putting a treed saddle on my horse again. my aunt rides in one and loves it. Absolutely adors it. It seems to fit on most of her horses, although she’s looking at the thicker pads for her current mount. that being said, she has difficulty during equitation lessons in it since it tends to push her leg forward, so she has invested in a wintec dressage for lessons.

I rode in one when I was trying out a horse and HATED it. Super wide twist, the fleece “grabbed” me too much, bulky (even though it’s light). I’ve been much happier with traditionally built saddles. I rode in a Duett Companion for a while, now in an arabian company solstice that I LOVE. I rode in a Mcclellen on my previous endurance mount, which was a good saddle, but not without it’s challenges.

I have one that I had custom made 2 years ago. It’s got a narrow twist and the shorter Western cut seat. I love it! It’s super comfy to ride in and has fit everything from a 13 hand gaited pony to my 14 hand barrel pony to a 15.2 hand TWH. I’ve used it in the ring and on the trail. I have a secure seat with it and don’t have balance issues. I’m mostly a pleasure rider and trail rider.
