Braiding

Hi,

What are some good tips for soliciting some braiding work this winter in ocala? I could only do 2-3 a day because I have a full time job but looking to supplement income to pay for my showing. I certainly don’t want to step on any toes, just not sure how to get started.

Thank you

Post in Area 3 eventers Facebook page! Tons of these guys are in Ocala and need it for either three-day shows or hunter shows.

So I don’t know if you’re looking at WEC Ocala or HITS, but usually there are FB a groups (we have one for WEC Wilmington) where people post sales horses, services, etc. pertaining to the show.

I must a post once a week about someone in search of a braider; I think you’d definitely to drum up some business if you posted your availability and rates.

Also, when you post on FB, I think it helps a lot if you post pictures of your work, especially for hunter braiding. If you post without pictures, people are flying blind on the quality of the braids and may not be as quick to hire you.

Thanks for the advertisement :slightly_smiling_face: I created this page a few years ago but don’t really have the time to grow it.

There is also a “Hunter Braiders-Needed” group that is quite active.

OP generally if you post pictures of your work on these pages you can either drum up work on your own, or state that you are available as a helper. I work as a “helper” nearly exclusively due to my full time job. But there is no shortage of work.
