Brake-checked while hauling yesterday - Careful out there

I want to upgrade the horn on our 3500. It’s got the most anemic horn.

Road rage can bring death, and though karen-ing is rage, it’s true, it’s not generally perilous.

Not brake checked with a trailer but came very close to rear-ending someone. Driving my two horse with my pony inside on our way to a lesson. There was a car in front of me and we were approaching a lighted intersection going down a hill. The light turned yellow and I assumed she was going to go through. Nope, she hit the brake and while I wasn’t that close and had ample truck around me, gravity kind of took over. I had to swing into the left turn lane (luckily no one was in it) to avoid hitting her. I glance over and see a cop in the right turn lane and he just wiped his hand across his brow in a “whew” motion at me.

Anyone can brake check. I’ve been brake checked by men and women, crowded by men and women, and almost run off the road by distracted young men and women drivers. Bad driving is sexless.

This exact same situation happened to me 20 years ago while I was towing a steel 2-horse with a 1700lb WB in the trailer. Going down a hill, light goes yellow when a car is close to intersection and driver hits the brakes instead of going thru intersection. I fortunately had enough room to stop, but I think I planted the horse on his nose.

And the driving has not improved.

Tailgating is ridiculous and dangerous.
Driving over the limit and expecting those around you to do so too is dangerous.
Brake checking is dangerous.
